At least the Utes played better tonight. Kareem is making huge improvements - thanks to the extra playing time since Jiggy's departure.

The Utes were in this game until the last few minutes. Hopefully they can get another win against Oregon State on Saturday.

Go Utes!

Oops again! Keep trying Utes AND... BYU handling Gonzaga at the half!

That loss is on Coach K.

Utes led by 8 points in the 2nd half, when Oregon switch to a full court press. The Utes looked confused, and seemed clueless that they only have 10 seconds to cross mid-court. Even after a timeout, the Utes had no plan for the full court press.

Day and a half to fix that, before Oregon State tries that strategy. Get on it, Coach K!

U are playing much better than I thought U would after a few early season blowouts.

It's still disappointing to see how few fans are supporting U. SoonerUte blames the loss on Coach Kry. I don't. I blame it on the fans. Fill the Huntsman up and get the crowd yelling for U, and this could have been a W. In basketball, more than any other sport, the fans really do make a difference. Quit being fair weather fans.

SoonerUte, the press was no surprise, that's what Oregon has banked their entire season on defense on. Utah had a decent play drawn up to beat it, just didn't execute it most the time, likely because several starters got in foul trouble early and sat much of the game, and some of the backups just don't have the experience.

From what I saw between the schools in SLC and Provo, both hosted superior teams to themselves, but one managed to bury a team when they got on top, the other didn't keep the pressure on. Gotta love the way Hines is shooting the ball, though. Go Utes!

Utes appear to be progressing well, developing some good players. Different attitude in this year´s team and you even sense the dedication and expectation growing in the team.
The end of the season will be telling as far as how good the team will be next year.

GO UTES!

Is this the same Oregon team BYU handled quite easily?

Plus side: Free throws are improving!

CougarFanInTX read the box score and offered odd advice "Fill the Huntsman up and get the crowd yelling for U, and this could have been a W. In basketball".

The players were doing great! They have made great improvement under Coach K. This game wasn't a case of players quitting or not executing. Utah had an 8 point lead in the 2nd half, when Oregon switched to a full court press. Oregon came back and took the lead on that strategy. That's why I put this loss on the coach. It took too long to figure out how to break the press.

Still, I admit your strategy is interesting. "Coach, how do we counter the full court press? Um... call a time out and see if we can get some more people in the stands. That will stump Oregon!"

@Stay the Course Yes in name it was the same team, however when BYU played Oregon they did not have Devoe Joseph the transfer from Minnesota, who had to wait to be eligible. Since he has joined Oregon, he has averaged double doubles. He was the difference in last nights game. So NO BYU did not play the same Oregon Team.

It is night and day with this Ute team from not only the start of the year but also last year. As a season ticket holder the improvement I have seen is very encouraging. From what I saw at the first of the season, I did not think we would win a game so every win is a bonus and to be playing most of the teams in the PAC 12 this close is a great thing. With the core of this team, (no depth on the bench except walk ons) and the transfers who will be eligible next year and the new recruits, I am very excited for the future of Utah Basketball. Go UTES

Will someone get Krystkowiak a tie? C'mon, I know team doesn't play like a basketball team, but at least you can look like one.

Maybe Coach Krystko should promote one of his transfers to Assistant HC, that would be a "gutsy" move no?

Runner - Krystko always wears a tie - except on cancer awareness night - which happened to be last night. I thought it was a great jesture for an excellent cause.

Nice effort. Let''s see if they can pull out the win against OSU.

Go Utes!

I kinda have to agree with CougFaninTX on this one. I definitely wouldn't blame the loss on the attendance, but having more energy all around might have been the difference between burying a team when you go up by 8 or playing tentative trying to protect a slim lead. I think the Arizona State game is a good example of that. We had about 9500 in attendance I think and there was just a great atmosphere. Don't know the numbers last night, but it wasn't as good.

I think the significant defficiency in the crowd is best illustrated in the student section. Talk about fickle. We win in football and the MUSS is jammed. Basketball used to pack the student section to the rafters. Now, a losing team and the student section has about 20 loyal attendees. This must change!

I actually do feel bad for Coach Krystko, I caught a few minutes of the red zone, he is actually trying to stop the Titanic from sinking but he knows its hopeless. When a coach talks about how his team can't even pass and catch the ball properly you know there is something very wrong in a D1 bball program.

Yes jacka-rus the Utes are not a good team this year in basketball, surprised it took you so long to figure it out; I take it your a Y fan. Thankfully this Ute team nor any other Ute basketball team has ever been close to being what has to one of the worst all time Div 1 teams ever, the 1996-1997 BYU men's basketball team. I watched them get beat six ways from Sunday that year in the Huntsman Center by my Utes, good times indeed.

Jark...

"Maybe Coach Krystko should promote one of his transfers to Assistant HC, that would be a "gutsy" move no?"

Hilarious!
