I guess we know who you are supporting. Like him or not, Gingrich has the right
to run, and your guy just isn't warming the hearts of very many people. Your
guy will get the nomination, but the enthusiasm factor will be pretty low. At
least Gingrich can wake people up when he's talking to them. It's
entertainment, folks!
@ BYUalum, don't you see it was your party, particularly the more conservative
wing, that gave that standing ovation? I do not understand how people can't
make that connection. So much for the party of morality.
Right on! His sour grapes after Florida was evident by his not being able to
take the high road and still congratulate Romney. His reputation of my way or
the highway is showing through.
Why Gingrich?. Because he and Ron Paul are anti-war, Trump likes that.
Real World
Excuses, excuses the bane of mankind The shelter of
all those who step out of line "Don't blame it on me that wouldn't be
fair It's not my fault blame that guy over there" They stammer
and stutter and cover their guilt And never acknowledge the messes they've
built Pointing their fingers at all but themselves And blame all their
failures on somebody else.
And the president just keeps on saying
"I may have spent us into near oblivion, the jobless rate may have grown, I
may have increased government by leaps and bounds and the food stamp recipients
by twelve million, I may have turned down a Canadian pipeline that would have
brought desperately needed oil and thousands of jobs to this country, I may have
saddled the nation with a health care bill that will gut the best health care
system in the world, I may be in the process of weakening the greatest military
the world has ever known just as Russia and China are ramping up theirs, but
look at what a mess things were in when I took office."
Donald Trump took to mant hits to the head in the WWE. First of all, in my
humble opinion, in spite of all his posturing and rhetoric, anybody who ever
swallowed the line that we had heard the last of Russia when the Berlin Wall
came down is dreaming. I have never believed that Russia was going to be content
to be the second or third-rate military power in the world. Now the Russian
Bear is growling and showing its teeth again and I'm sure they're extremely
happy about Obama pruning back America's military power. The Apocolypse has
arrived. I guess Newt still wants to build a 5 star resort yet on the moon, and
for security guards do more research and then development for "star
wars." We know that Reagan is famous for preaching that helping the wealthy
would help the rest of us, but since that time they did not create any jobs for
the middleclass. In case Newt pushes for the new world order and wants more guns
and much more deregulation's, he'll massively increased military spending, and
never lower taxes with a balanced budget. Newt should admit that Reagan was a
pragmatic moderate.
@LDS Lib - let's see - Romney got 25% of Iowa's votes, 39% of New Hampshire's
votes, 28% of South Carolina's votes, 46% of Florida's votes, and is on track
to get 50% of Nevada's votes.
I know numbers are hard LDS Lib, but
you might want to recalculate and reconsider whether 75% of Republicans don't
like Romney. By the way, just because someone votes for another candidate
doesn't mean they "don't like" Romney.
I'm curious. How do you know those
voters were for Romney, instead of just finding him the least distasteful option
among those who are running for the nomination. I'm sure I'm not the only one
here who has, on occasion, held my nose and pulled the lever beside a person's
name, not because I supported the person but because s/he was the least
objectionable of the people on the ballot.
Reagana produced 20 million new jobs and doubled the national assets. The middle
class did very well including several million black families. Romney is a
proven leader. He can do it. He does have some issues I don't like. Raising
the minimum wages sounds good, but with 50% of African American youth unemployed
it doesn't help. Gingrich has done good and bad. The Contract for America was
very good, but a balanced a budget was not passed. At least he tried. On the
other hand he seemed to love ear marks and extended them. So it goes. Either
Gingrich or Romney would be far better. The tea party wants free enterprise not
a food stamp president. They would rather have people working than on the dole.
My point was that adultery got a standing ovation at
that debate in SC. That is how far this country has come. I don't care about
identifying particularly who in the audience stood up. It was completely and
totally shocking that anyone did! Have we lost the moral compass completely of
who we are? Have we become so cynical that we no longer know the difference
between right and wrong?
Go Mitt Romney, a moral, solid, and proven
leader and a great family man with a vision and plan for America and without a
personal agenda or baggage!
"And, add to that when adultery got a standing ovation
at the SC debate."
What turned SC on to Gingrich was him
slamming the liberal media in the final debate there. SC voters had a momentary
lapse about Gingrich's admitted adultery and service divorce papers on two sick
wives and went for him. Fortunately Florida voters stayed on course.
If Gingrich had some fidelity and was able to control his temper he might just
be a good candidate. But he doesn't and he can't.
Eric, you ask "Why Gingrich"? Here's a short list of why followed by a
list of why it will soon all end:
- He gained huge and instant
popularity zinging the liberal media. People ate that up. - He is clearly
intelligent and is very quick on his feet in dealing with questions, verbal
altercations, etc - He says what people want to hear. He's a brilliant
political chameleon.
End is near: - His schtick going after the
media was cute at first but has run its course. - His true colors of
bitterness & rancor come out when things don't go his way - His
integrity attacks on Romney and others are laughable. He's a serial adulterer,
he was censured by the House of Reps, and he was lobbyist for Fannie Mae (excuse
me, historian) which he ludicrously denies.
Watch how unsupportive
of Romney he'll be when Romney ultimately wins the Republican nomination.
@Furry1993 - I think your logic is a much, much greater stretch than mine.
According to a January 5-8 Gallup poll, 59% of Republicans as well as 59% of
Republican-leaning Independents, consider Romney an acceptable nominee for
President. Of course, if you think people don't like him but still find him
acceptable, I can't argue with that logic. But, I really think the burden falls
to you and LDS Lib to support your viewpoint that 75% or Republicans don't like
him, which is clearly in opposition to the natural interpretation of the
statistics.
Gingrich projects anger and resentment much better than Romney. That's what the Tea Party responds to.
Thank you, thank you!
And, add to that when adultry got a standing ovation at the SC debate.
Go Mitt Romney!
I guess we know who you are supporting. Like him or not, Gingrich has the right to run, and your guy just isn't warming the hearts of very many people. It's not desperation. It's "vaulting ambition, which o'erleaps itself and falls on the other." Gingrich is Macbeth without the conscience.
@ BYUalum, don't you see it was your party, particularly the more conservative wing, that gave that standing ovation? I do not understand how people can't make that connection. So much for the party of morality.
He's not Mormon, doesn't run and hide from the media, and is the most recent flavor of the week for the GOP.
@Esquire - and if someone's top political priority is morality, are you suggesting the Democrats have higher ground to stand on? That's a good one!
Newt is just having his "Anybody BUT Romney" turn in the limelight.
When will Utahns wake-up to the fact that most Republicans (75%) don't like Romney?
Which is why he's only held a 25% "like" rate for over a year now.
Only in Utah does Romney have such a loyal, fawning and commanding following.
Newt is sharp.
I don't like or agree with what he says,
but I gotta hand it to him, I like HOW he says it.
Perhaps that is the appeal.
Right on! His sour grapes after Florida was evident by his not being able to take the high road and still congratulate Romney. His reputation of my way or the highway is showing through.

Wow, another RAH RAH Romney letter. What a shock.

Gingrich is anti-war?? In whose world?? Chuck, you're losing it.
