The problem with this stalled economy is not fixable by legislation, loose credit, and wishes of business or the president.
The easiest and simplest way to help the economy is bring workers and the people of the US out of poverty. They have plenty of eduction and degrees but no money to pay for anything, not even their food.
The reason poverty and economy has stalled and staying there is wages and income. Not a job, but a job that pays $25/hr or more. No worker prosperity is why people can't keep or pay for their home and why the economy is getting worse.
Instead of taxing the rich and let government redistribute 200 billion dollars that will be siphoned down to a couple million effective dollars to a state. Make business and the rich pay the organized workers with enough wages to pay for their health care insurance, retirement, and expendable incomes the 70's and 80's had. Redistribute company profits back down the pipe to its employees, keep it out of the hands of corporate investors and the stock markets.
But there is a failure to communicate here that the power brokers can't comprehend as economic factors.
Will Obama ever learn? The government meddling in the housing market caused this crash in the first place by forcing sub prime loans to unquaified borrowers who never intended to service their NINJA loans.

Want big goverment out of your life?
Don't vote Republican:
'The TSA was created as part of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act, sponsored by Don Young in the United States House of Representatives[2] and Ernest Hollings in the Senate,[3] passed by the 107th U.S. Congress, and signed into law by President George W. Bush on November 19, 2001.'

Pagan,
if you will read the report to congress by the Special Investigator for TARP (SIGTARP), you will see that the money for homeowner bailouts is coming from the $700B TARP bill you like to say bush signed (which he did). So are you giving BUSH credit for trying to help homeowners? After all BUSH signed the legislation providing the funding.
If you were up on current treasury press releases (as well as the SIGTARP report) you would know that of the $700B, only $243B was spent on the banks, of which $258B has been repaid (a net PROFIT of $13B) Too bad your strict diet of MSNBC and NYT has left you so ill-informed.
HALF the homeowners who refi'd under the existing homeowner bailout plan have redefaulted within 6-12 months. If the plan is expanded to include those with higher debt loads, the default rate will go even higher. Once again, BO is peddling FALSE hope. But that's what he is, a big phony.
