States like Utah are still on a federal spending roll of the dice hoping more federal jobs will jump out of the wood work, but this years should be a breaking year in the downward spiral of more economic desperation for workers. Federal jobs will disappear by the thousands and with it the federal funds.

But that's okay, poverty is measurable as economic growth now so it will give Governor Herbert some positive ammunition to declare a growing economy.

In order to have a realty economy we should change our sales tax laws to be a flat tax, say 2 cents on the dollar so government doesn't keep growing out of proportion to the real economy. Inflation has outstripped poverty to the point that taxes related to inflation are obscene. Everything consumers by or use doubled and tripled in cost and taxes have doubled and tripled with it. It's a paradox of how government comparison of taxes/inflation/income work against each other in the economy.

Minimum wage even exceeds min welfare entitlements so how does Utah welfare justify illegals receiving over $50K dollars aid and a $20k income?

"Minimum wage even exceeds min welfare entitlements so how does Utah welfare justify illegals receiving over $50K dollars aid and a $20k income?"

Can you justify this statement that the average illegal family is receiving 50k in benefits? I would love to see the breakdown of this number in more detail. It is very intereting if true. I must say, the gap is so big, I am skeptical.

Employment is positive? In what universe!
There are twice the number of unemployment claims every month than new jobs.

I'm not mathematician or statistician, but I would assume the employment rate is worsening.
The only way the unemployment number appeared better is if extension of unemployment benefits discontinue giving the perception things are better when they're infact not -- people receiving unemployment are the "only" counted in the unemployment rate. The U6 is the "true" unemployment rate.
