and St Mary's is receiving votes. Not too shabby for a 'meaningless' conference to have 3 teams either ranked or receiving votes in women's basketball.
The WCC doesn't look all that shabby.
Go Cougars!

Please, oh please tell me you understand this AP ranking is for Women's Basketball? As I recall, the discussion about the WCC has been regarding the non-football, Men's athletic teams.
Go, Lady Cougs!!
Keep winning! Show the men how it is one!
yes, I understand this has to do with women's basketball. I also understand that there has been a lot of conference smack talk in general about having our non-football teams in the WCC now in any sport, not just men's basketball.
I just think it's pretty cool that the women's teams in the WCC are representing well also. No MWC women's teams ranked- our women's team may have moved up into even stiffer competition, and still playing well. Way to go Lady Cougs!
The #1 men's volleyball team in the country currently as well, the football independence thing doesn't seem to be hurting the other sports as much overall as some have continued to insinuate.
wyoming cougar
BYU's men's volleyball team wasn't affected by the move of most of BYU's olympic sports to the WCC. The BYU men's volleyball team has played in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) since the late 90's, the same conference as UCLA, USC, Stanford, Pepperdine, Long Beach State, UC Irvine and all of the other outstanding men's volleyball programs in the West.
The MPSF is to men's volleyball, as the SEC is to major college football - the premier conference in the country.
Shame on BYU fans for not getting out to see the ladies play. They play hard, they get hurts and bruses, they play together and as you can tell from this picture they love and admire their coach. The games are not boring. These young women work hard and deserve the support of the fans. There is no reason why there should not be five or six thousand fans watching these games. There are some seniors on this team that soon will wear their uniform for the last time. We'll never get to see them play again. Fans, don't pass up the chance to see them while you can.
