I would hope they come out with a more agressive attitude tomorrow and beat Pepperdine like a red headed step child.
I hope they leave all their bricks in Provo.
I look for a big win today. The last game was an anomaly. BYU is a much better shooting team than what they showed on Thursday.
This game should be a BYU blowout.
I laughed when I read that "the game should be a sell-out" and the gym holds >3,500 seats.
BYU proved against LMU that they can be a mediocre team when they don't defend the three, rebound, and hit from outside.
The guards did not defend or attack the interior whatsoever. . . and I am not a basketball coach.
Down the road from Malibu, a professor wrote a book entitled "What Were They Thinking?" That query applies to BYU's coaches.
People think that the WCC is a lame conference and that small gyms are indicative of high school prowess. Small catholic and private schools have been in the big show every year. Basketball is a great sport for small colleges because you can have a great team with only one or two great players. Bill Russell played at USF. Georgetown (national champ) is a perennial power. St Johns, St Bonaventure, Creighton, Gonzaga, St Mary's, Loyola of Chicago (national champ) and the like are always very tough. Elgin Baylor played at Seattle University. The list goes on.
BYU will be competitive in the WCC, but will not dominate. These teams from little schools are tough. And small gyms bring the crowd right to the floor. They can beat you any time. Just ask UCLA how touch LMU is this year.
BYU looks good this year but is pretty young, especially at guard. St Mary's looks really tough. I see BYU in 3rd place and going to the NIT this year.
BYU basketball, football will never go the NC. Chest pumping about NIT's or getting bounced in the first round of the tourney, and meaningless bowl games is your destiny.
And crowntown1 knows about being bounced. Colorado 17-14.
What score is that? I'm nor a BYU fan or Utah fan.
