we are all thrilled ! a temple within driving distance. the area will be truly blessed in having the Kansas City Temple. There is also a beautiful stake center across the street.
i have already mapped out three different directions...so as of May 8 i am there ! for those whom do not know the kansas city temple area...15 minutes from Liberty Jail, 20 minutes from Independence Visitors Center. Come on out and visit our area.
now we desperately need a distribution center and a deseret book store !!
I hope you get the visitors center and book store.
When the Seattle Temple was built, it put a temple within 5 hours of us, and that was better than sliced bread. Now, we have a temple in Spokane and that is only 45 minutes away. Life keeps getting better.
However, neither the Seattle Temple, nor the Spokane Temple have visitors centers, and our LDS book store closed down a couple of years ago.
With Deseret Book on-line, its tough for locals to compete.
Anyway, djk, glad you're getting a temple. It looks awesome!
In Liberty downtown about a block south of the Liberty Jail is a small LDS Bookstore. It is really nice. I would recommend it to anyone. However, as mentioned above it is easier to shop on-line to get stuff than it is to go to a store. Yes, it takes a credit card but at the LDS Store on the LDS website allows one to get almost anything you can get at the Deseret Book Store. I'm looking forward to the open house and dedication. Winter Quarters is 2 hours away and now Kansas City 1 1/2 hours away. Still it will be nice to attend the temple more frequently because of its location.
