What a joke, why don't they look at someone that is in house and maybe you'll get someone that wants to stay there for the long haul, you might get a coach that understands the kids and the community. Administration and the AD's over think this way too much.

Well Hunter Admin. you sure messed up. You had a coach that wanted to be there, he was a Hunter guy, he loves the area, he loved the kids, he wanted to win, he was what Hunter Football needed you had him and let him slip through your grasp. You have tried to replace him twice since you ran him off, boy that has worked out for you. Coach Pearce was the man for Hunter, maybe you Hunter Administrators should humble yourselves and get on your knees and beg him to come back. To bad for the kids and the fans of Hunter Football that Coach Pearce is gone.

Good luck Hunter Administrators, maybe you should take a look at the real problem.

I agree with Silly Rabbit that Hunter shouldn't have kicked Coach Pearce to the curb. I also doubt they will beg him to come back. But I don't blame the Hunter administration for them losing Tim Murphy. I bet the reason he decided not to coach at Hunter was because of his daughter that lives in the bay area.

As a Hunter alum, they need a Hunter guy. I don't think the Wizard wants to come back just yet. They need an up and coming coach and they should look at Tarell Richards at Cottonwood High.

Coach Pearce was not "kicked to the curb" he resigned because he didn't get a promotion inside the school that he wanted, and you can hardly blame the administration because the principal is brand new. However, you are all correct in that they need to make a safe hire with someone they know will be in it for the long haul!

This is an administration problem plain and simple. The Granite School District is one of the worst places to be a head coach or even a volunteer for. The district doesn't follow through on promises, doesn't make it easy for people to volunteer their time without going through major paperwork and certifications (all paid for at the cost of the volunteer) Yes volunteers have to pay to volunteer for them. Hunter high admins botched the Hamilton hire (he was never a long term solution, he committed to coaching them for 3 years and told them he would apply for other jobs closer to his home in Utah county) Then They botched this hiring and will probably botch the next. Hunter high school deserves better. Sometimes the most obvious choice is the one staring you in the face.

There definitely isn't something quite right with Granite School District. Look at the turnover in football coaches this past year: Cyprus just hired a new coach; Skyline just hired a new coach; Hunter is an absolute mess; Taylorsville is looking to fill their coaching vacancy; Granger just completed their season with a new coach; as did Olympus; Cottonwood's coach just finished his second season. There is only one program without turnover within the last three years, Kearns!

Is this a district thing, or is it the profession less appealing than in years past?

Hunter better do something quick, their talent is funneling out to Granger, Herriman, and Cottonwood!

Todd Christianson was the master mind behind Hunter's only state championship team in 2003. He's lacking a teaching credential, but he knows and understands the Hunter kids/community better than anyone. Friday nights in WVC would take on an entirely different feel if Hunter High administrators looked his way. Just saying, Hunter High's answer to what's become a big problem, is right in their own backyard.

Coach Pearce is not the man for Hunter. He left because he thought he deserved the AD job there even after being there just a few years. He's all for himself. When he didn't get it, he himself made the decision to leave and left the kids hanging. I believe Coach Pearce leaving was a good thing for Hunter. He was not that great of a coach and now he's at Granger fighting with Coach Gerke on their sidelines every other game. I think I can speak for all of Hunter community and say we don't care for Coach Pearce coming back.

Hunter is getting what they deserve. The only fatality here is the students because administration is lost.

How is Hunter getting what they deserve? No high school kid or community deserves to be put through what these kids and community have gone through! It will be 4 coaches in 8 months, that is rough. FWIW Pearce is showing his dedication yet again as he will be moving to Herriman on Monday . . . . interesting, isn't it?

No Big surprise on Pearce. Anywhere he thinks he can move up the short ladder. He didn't even get along with Gerke, I think he wanted to be head coach.

Dennis you are wrong and ignorant about the whole Hunter community. No one deserves this, especially the kids.

good luck in your search for a football coach. just leave Coach Homer alone. our town will form a heavily armed roadblock to keep him here. :)

You don't know Coach Pearce at all. How can you hold it against someone for trying to better their job. Are you telling me that you would be selfish if you took another job after you applied for a promotion within your company and honestly thought you were the best qualified and they gave it to someone else. Coach Pearce is a good person and a good coach I know he cared about Hunter and the young men he coached.

Coach Pearce is a good guy and a good coach no matter where he is. Know one can blame him for looking out for himself and his career in a profession which is known to have little support from the administration, the school, the community and the parents. Pearce was brought to Granger by his ex-coach and principal Mr. Haslam for the Granger head job, when he didn't want it it was given to Coach Gerkhe. Also the fighting among the staff on the Granger sidelines is because of Coach Gerkhe. No one can get along with him, he was a very poor choice for a head coach he won't last just look at his coaching history. I agree with "agame" Hunter is over thinking this process. Stop going with out of state coaches who end up hating Utah and leaving. They need a guy who loves the kids in that community and who is loyal with Utah ties who will last through all the tough times of being a head coach.

Two words that will solve your problem hunter high "RAY GROTH" and anyone that knows Hunter & Granger history knows that I know what im talking about. The man is a football genius, loves west valley kids and was successful at granger. If I were hunter administration I would be on the phone ASAP asking him to apply.
