'Poll: Newt Gingrich closes gap on Mitt Romney in S.C.' - Title

But remember!

Republicans don't care about religion!

The numbers indicate that he is pretty much doing it at the expense of Santorum and Paul.

too bad we can't get a combination candidate - half Romney and half Gingrich. Both have strengths and weaknesses. Actually I would take Lloyd Christmas to replace Obama if need be.

This article is very deceiving and paints a picture that is not accurate; a two weeks difference comparison is way too broad since two weeks ago was just one day after the Iowa Caucus. A lot has happened since two weeks ago including the New Hampshire Primary.

If you look at today's Real Clear Politics average of all recent polls over the past week, it paints an entirely different picture as follows:

Jan 13&14: 4.7% spread in favor of Romney
Jan 15&16: 7.7% spread
Jan 17: 10.3% spread (right after the Myrtle Beach debate)
Jan 18: 10.2% spread in favor of Romney

The trend right now is against Gingrich; he has lost ground since last Friday and South Carolinians start voting in three days.

The Tax Return thing is a last-chance desperate hope that the underlying smear machines might be able to find something at the last second upon which to impungn Mitt's character and it's pathetic. If Republicans were true to their character, they'd ignore this, because it stinks of classism. What are they going to find? That's he's rich?

That's a democrat tactic. Rich people are bad. Rich people don't relate to other humans. Look at all his money, you should have some. It's ridiculous.

Obama's the only one that can profit from an exposure of Mitt's financial records. But as usual, the republican candidates exchange longterm success for short-term mania, and shoot themselves in the foot.

While today's media desperately tries to exploit mudslinging among candidates, I'm desperately trying to understand some of the basics behind the headline of this article.

Can somebody please explain what many GOP voters see in Newt Gingrich that they don't get from the other GOP candidates?
