LIFE LESSONS: A COACH'S LEGACY
by Gwen P. Holtsclaw
I will teach my team the pleasures of hard work
And the importance of teamwork.
I will show them the joys of reaching a goal
And the satisfaction of finishing strong.
I will explain to them the beauty of integrity
And the fulfillment of fitness.
I will know their name
And demand their best.
I will do these things because I love them
And respect them.
The surest way I know to teach these things
Is to have them learn by my example.
Thank you Coach Dupaix! You are a class act. Best of wishes in your future endeavors. Your legacy will live on in the hearts of your players and friends.
Great man! Great coach!
Enjoy retirement Coach, you certainly deserve it!
Thank you for giving the Skyline community and the state of Utah some fantastic memories.
Thank you even more for doing it the right way.
Congrats to Coach Dupaix and good luck to him and his wife on their mission. He should be emulated by other coaches in our community. His example of taking care of the boys instead of worrying about himself and what people think of him would help many of the coaches we have in high school ball today.
Though I never played for Skyline I had the opportunity to play on an all-star game for Coach Dupaix some 20 plus years ago and he taught me a great lesson. I often used inappropriate language as a high school player, something I am not proud of, and Coach Dupaix kindly called me on the carpet for it. During halftime I walked into the locker room upset about a block that I felt should have been a penalty. As I expressed my displeasure loudly in terms that would make a sailor blush Coach Dupaix kindly asked me not to use such language and that I had shown toughness on the field and didn't need to prove it with foul language. Coach Dupaix is a legend in Utah and he is an outstanding person. Congratulations on the retirement and good luck in your service. Thank you sir.
Congratulations coach to a phenomenal career. You have built a tremendous program and have sustained it, while doing things the right way. Skyline is a better place because of you and your staff. Enjoy your mission.
What a ride!
Thank you Coach DuPaix for also being a person worth emulating (read: role model).
Best of luck to where ever life takes you!
I never met Coach DuPaix, but his record on and off the field speak volumes. He won and did it the right way. Under no circumstances can you stay in coaching as long as he has and in the same program for as lonhg he has unless you do thing the right way. Thanks for your time and other sacrifices you have made over your career to help young men learn important life lessons through the great game of football. Good luck to Coach and Sister DuPaix on their up coming mission and throughout the rest of their lives.
Great coach, even a greater man. Congrats on your retirement, I know you will do wonderful things in your next chapter.
What is more important. Changing the lives of hundreds of young men that need direction and support at impressionable times of their lives, or, serving dinner at a branch social in some remote part of the world?
Coach, Congratulations on an epic career. I appreciate all that you have done for me and shaping my life. You have taught me more than you will know. Whether playing for you, coaching with you, or coaching against you each and every time it has been a learning experience and a lot of fun. You have a great family and I am privileged to know them. Thank you for your influence. I am thrilled for you and Edie.
I am sorry Bingham but the legacy you think your having does not even come close to ours, so please quit using comparisons. Thanks coach coach !
