Nice job Birds. So far this is a much better season then years past. And I don't see any negative comments about Roger Reid this year. I wonder why that is. Keep the boys going in the right direction coach and those critics will disapere entirely.
Great win for SUU and good way for Reid to finish his last year.
You must be able to see the future. He got recognized before the game for win number 100. Then a couple hours later he got number 101. I really don't think it's gonna be his last year. This is the best season the team has seen in a long time and if you don't think so you need to cheer for another team.
Stang:
It was win 200 and 201 for those counting at home. Reid has been a great coach but it is time to bring his long career to an end, at least here at SUU. His contract is over this year and it would be hard to believe the administration would offer a new contract. Obviously, you like Reid as many do but a fresh start is in order.
Cheering for SUU is not the question because like you, there are a ton of us that want SUU basketball to succeed. We care about the school and players. The future is new and exciting and it is time for fresh start with a new coach.
Part of me agrees with you. If the school decides to get rid of him and get a young hungry coach then great. If President Benson decides to keep Reid for a few more years you and everyone else need to realize it is a good decision. What ever happens happens. Just support the man while he's here. He is obviously the way the school wants to go. Your from draper so I assume your a Wildcat or even worse an Aggie. If your a true TBird then just support Ried while he is here.
There are a ton of us that support the SUU players and hope only the best for them. We know the players and attend games. Yes, tons of us support the coach. However,an honest appraisal of his results is necessary.
Reid's contract is up this year. He has compiled a 51-90 record (as of last night) in 5 years. Why would President Benson decide to offer a new contract? Why would SUU basketball fans want to see him stay?
Again, you must remove your obvious relationship with Reid and seriously consider the facts. Any coach (and I stress any coach) that compiles a record like Reid after 5 years in D1 has very little chance of being retained.
Time to enjoy the balance of the season supporting the players with hopes they can make a huge run toward the conference tournament. Then, we can look forward with hopes that change will occur in the coaching as SUU heads into the exciting BigSky.
