So, they finally decided on which non-Mormon to support.
What a relief.
Too bad for them, though.
A Mormon is going to win--even without their support.
What? Not Romney?
With Newt's 2-time adultery past an admitted fact, and with Paul wanting to legalize mariguana and allowing Iran to get nukes, and with Perry proving on the debate stage he lacks the confidence to powerfully lead, and with a huge chunk of these evangelical ministers believing Mitt Romney is not even a Christian, is anyone surprised that Santorum is their choice?
I like Santorum and will GLADLY pull the lever for him in November, if needed, to get rid of the guy in the Whitehouse now. However, I like Romney better.
(BTW, if you really believe that Romney had absolutely nothing to do with the job growth at Staples, Sports Authority, Domino's, etc.....might I suggest you don't understand the concept of honest objectivity.)
Romney 2012
New SC poll (Reuters/Ipsos) now has Romney widening his lead - Romney 37%, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul 16% and Newt 12%. Go Romney!!!
Go Obama.
Yeah -- Go Obama. Go far, far away!
Santorum is a good man and I'd vote for him over Obama. But it is very telling that Evangelical leaders felt the need to meet at a secluded Texas ranch to come up with an "alternative" to Romney.
I'm sorry, but I see continued religious bigotry being exhibited by many of these leaders. They can't stand the fact that Romney, a Mormon, is on the brink of wrapping up the Republican nomination. And in so doing, they only make it easier for Obama to be re=elected.
Go Away Obama.
It's never too late, thank goodness!
Go away, Romney.
The only positive about Santorum is that he has **NO** Ivy League degree.
None of these "special interest shepherds'" flocks vote the way the "shepherds" tell them to.
Its not only the evangelicals, but add to that the unions, the latinos, etc.
The days are long past that voters vote the way their "leaders" tell them to.
Union members don't want the country to go downhill any worse than businessmen do.
Latinos don't want to pay the costs of ILLEGAL immigration any more than anglos do.
Evangelicals may go to church every sunday, but they'll still vote for whoever they think in their heart is best for the country.
BTW - A LOT of these very same evangelicals follow Glenn Beck VERY closely and they all know he's Mormon.
What about that?
In other words, lets guarantee another term for the worse President (Barack Obama)and First Lady (Michelle Obama) in the history of this nation.
Will all the Churches these Pastors represent now being paying taxes for politicing in violation of IRS rules? Ok here is the beakdown on what they said: If your not an Evangelical or Catholic you cannot be President! No Mormons, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, Agnostics, etc. The closed minded have spoken! So be it said, so be it done! 21st Century bigotry at its best!
The candidate they picked lied about where he resided in order to get his kids an advantage in school. He supports lobbyist influence in porkulous spending with earmarks. Santorum says he supports a Balanced Budget Amendment but voted against it 5 times? Is that not a lie? And the former Senator from Pennsylvania lost by 18 percent in his last election!
Oh, by the way, who do the Evangelicals vote for in the Virginia primary as only Ron Paul and Mitt Romney were competent enough to get on the ballot!
The Republicans just can't get their act together. It looks like the desire to have a candidate who is agreeable to the evangelicals is going to sink the GOP ship. All the republican candidates except Huntsman and Ron Paul have been pandering to the extreme right wing of the party that they will find it hard to move far enough to the left to attract the center left and center right population of the country that they will ensure Obama wins another term in the White House. Way to go team GOP!

I wonder if this conservative endorsement of santorum will help romney backhandedly since santorum's extra votes are likely to come from gingrich and perry first which might just swap gingrich and santorum's position and that's it.
How many of you remember when Dr. James Dobson and "Focus on the Family" was a regular feature on KSL AM Radio?
I guess it was OK for him to accept money from "Non Christians".
We seriously need to reevaluate our loyalty to the National Republican Party when many in the leadership view us as they do.
Perhaps they view their efforts to derail Romney's campaign will not impact our loyalty to the National Party or we perhaps will not remember the bigotry showed the two LDS candidates.
Remember Remember
Many comments here accuse Mormons of following their leaders like sheep. Now we'll get to see whether Evangelicals follow their leaders like sheep.
If these modern day Pharisees with robes and masters degrees in theology claim to be Christian and if they represent what Christianity truly is all about, then please, do not call me a Christian.
Am I the only one who thinks this whole GOP primary ought to be set to the Benny Hill theme song?
To get together as a group of social conservative leaders and throw your support behind a guy like Santorum is an exercise in total futility. The primary is basically over and Mitt is going to win.
If I wasn't witnessing the GOP setting its own house on fire, I don't think I'd believe this! Santorum is a great guy...who cannot win. Take a chance on the Mormon guy. You might be surprised at how well he does.
Only 85 of the 150 Evangelicals came out in support of Santorum so they are still split. Some walked out as well! Hmm no consensus here! Maybe because we need a real leader not just someone who meets 1 requirement: a religious test!
I remember when people were terrified at having a Catholic president, but JFK got elected, and everything was OK. The Pope did not rule the country. And neither will the leaders of the LDS Church. To consider a person's religion as a pro or con in an election is silly. What should be considered is his experience, ability to get the job done, his integrity, knowledge of current problems and the solutions for them, and so on. My one concern about Mitt is his possible lack of military expertise, but that can be overcome by having dependable, experienced, and knowledgeable Cabinet members, and other Presidential aides. Another article I saw suggested that Mitt's knowledge of the French language was a negative thing. Also silly! Any foreign language experience will be helpful. France is not the only country that speaks French, either.
As things are going, I would be afraid to vote for an Evangelical candidate, for fear one of these conservative organizations would try to be in charge!
I think that it is HYPOCRITICAL that these Evangelicals are afraid of voting for Mitt on the grounds that he will be unduly influenced by the LDS leaders. But yet, here they are meeting together and saying that they support someone, because he fits their picture of what a Christian is, and they are expecting all those who are their followers to get in line with their opinions and vote for a man who by all rights would not make as good a president just because that's what they want.
