Man St. Mary's took it to Gonzaga tonight. St. Mary's seems tougher than anyone thought, or Gonzaga isn't as tough as thought.

Looking forward to the LEAGUE play the rest of the season with all it's drama leading to the Tourney.

Go Cougars!!!!!!

Four games in a week is never easy, but the Cougs should win all four games. Assuming the Cougs win all four games, I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Top 25 or listed among those receiving votes, after the week is over.

St Mary's should move into the Top 25 when the next rankings come out, after they spanked the Zags last night. They proved they are the real deal, and with wins over BYU and Zags, they are in command of the WCC race. How did they lose to Denver? Their loss to Baylor is understandable.

Judging how the Zags played St Marys, the contest between the Zags and BYU should be a good one.

I was agreeing with most analysts that Lillard was the best point guard in the West, but after seeing Dellavedova (St Marys) play again last night, you can't leave him out of the discussion. He is impressive!

When BYU plays St Marys again, we need to stick someone on Dellavedova like glue. I'd probably give that assignment to Winder. He's a little more athletic and quicker than Zylstra.

Cougs won't get votes until they beat St Marys and / or Gonzaga. If they split with those teams they will start to get some consideration. If they go 3-1 against those two, they will probably hit the top 25 in February.

All St. Mary's has done is hold serve at home against both BYU and Gonzaga. I know the scores of those two games were a little lopsided but I think all we're seeing is how much a big deal home-court advantage is in this conference. I fully expect BYU to be up to the challenge against both these teams at the Marriott Center and should win both games. Which means the second-to-the-last WCC game for BYU will probably decide the regular season champ.

Playing in gyms as big as HS gyms does have its advantages.

re: devlishute
All things equal, I'd rather play in a gym that holds 5,000 and is filled to capacity than play in a gym that seats 15,000 with only 3,000 seats filled.

I'd also rather play on ESPN or BYUtv, than the local radio station.

Devil, and what are those advantages, as opposed to the PAC basketball fiasco this year? Care to elaborate on which team in your mighty conference could compete in any facility against the WCC top three this year???

Where's Stockton ???

@Devilishute

Suggest you read about how ugly the Pac is this year. Try Yahoo's Mike Huguenin's article titled " All about the Pac: Avert your eye; this is ugly."

Talk about a dose of medicine to swallow...and it's obviously going to be a few years til there will ever be any discussion at all of Huntsman Center expansion...so right now... I'd have to say maybe Utah should consider renting the YMCA gym for a few years and put the HC in mothball.

I gotta a feeling DevilishUte should have not posted on this article, until you fill the HC please layoff the fill the gym smack talk.
