And people wonder why there is so much government involved in their lives and freedoms? Government fund blackmail is where your rights and freedoms went. You have a right to smoke and its not illegal, but they will blackmail and shut down the economy by forcing people out jobs, their homes, and their rights. Its the same with the right to having abortions using blackmail legislation.

The greed for government funds is why we have state and federal blackmail laws and why inflation is uncontrollable, gas is high, food is high, and Cost of living in Utah not only high, it is devastating to those in poverty where poor is a level of wealth now that can be measured as economic growth.

Utah doesn't need new tax laws, they just threaten and defund by, fines, and fees, legislation.

Like the governor this year (2012 budget) was even able to announce a surplus of money ($130 million) by borrowing more than they needed.

But rather than pay off debt or borrow less on bonds to improve the economy, they give it to education, developers, and ultimately China. Obamanomics of poverty and government socialism has spread like wildfire across this land.

Why are cigs admonished everywhere publicly and this drug mess is some what accepted by all from the dirt poor to elite and wealthy? How about more concentration to the problems of crime and use of drugs instead of the smell of smoke? Put troops on the borders not in foreign countries huh? The costs of the drug issues, crimes, incarcenations, rehabing, deaths, investigations, legal costs ect are killing this country, how about attacking the "BIG" problem?

Nanny state run amuck.

Mental health patients are going through enough problems already without the state nagging them about smoking!

For those of you who think this is o.k. - ask yourself how soon the state will be going after YOU and YOUR problems, (obesity, soda pop, no exercise, etc.)

I worked for a large corporation for decades. Many of my co-workers smoked back then in the 60s 70's and 80's. After all these years, the magic number seems to be: age 62 for a smokers death to happen. Not all smokers, but alot of them. That's a lot of time cut off a persons life. Many of us old co-workers took up clean living even though some didn't care, after age 40 or so. We still are able to do the same things that we enjoyed at the age of 25. The message? Quit right now. Go to the doctor and tell him you want to quit. They have new things these days to help you get off the cigs. Take up something new to replace the old habbit's. Walking is the most simple thing.

2cents & fitness, you might note the headline.....public funds. Which means that the public has a say in the matter.
And the nanny state thing? Try venturing out of Utah from time to time and you'll see equally strict no smoking laws in every state.
Best of luck to you Stephen, your attitude and example will improve your life and many other's.
