I agree with the article. Field goals should be abolished. Kickers should not be allowed to lose a game or even win a game. The game should not be decided by who has the best kicker. If one saw a football field without knowing the rules that person would probably think the goal is to kick field goals. If there were no field goals the consolation for driving the field and not scoring is the opposing team would need to drive the longer field. Is OSU better than Stanford because the Stanford kicker couldn't convert? I think of the poor kicker from Boise State this year, who cost his school millions of dollars and who could of produced the argument for Boise State to play LSU, if he converted that last field goal. The similar deal happened last year. They have to live with those lost opportunities the rest of their lives. They are the goats, they could have been the heroes, but not deserving of either.

Agreed. I'd get rid of punting too. The only kick should be the kickoff. If a team goes 4 and out, their opponent benefits from very good field position.

Virginia Tech (11-3) had more than double Michigan's total yards, 377-184, and had 22 first downs to Michigan's 12 but settled for four field goals in regulation by third-string kicker Justin Myer.

What happen in OT - Justin missed the field goad in OT. Justin will NOT be a goat this time around. VT team failed to score many for gaining that many 1st downs and yards. I love the goal post because sometime the ball will hit the post and could go either way but what a waste of time and money to see them get knock down by fans or by putting them up. And how about getting rid of those Zebras.

Oh yes, please, get rid of the kicker. Then you can call it what it really is, throwball, and try to find some way to resolve all the ties that getting rid of a three-point field goal will cause.
"We don't want no kickin' in our football game." Really? That's hilarious.

It was a bummer to see Andrew Luck's career end like that. I had a feeling their kicker would miss when the had plenty of time and three time outs to go for the touchdown instead they just ran it to the middle to set up the field goal. Then in OT they went with two runs and only gave Luck a chance to throw on third and long. If you have a great quarterback like Luck you need to let him throw it and not rely on your kicker!!!!
