Must have been hard for Brandon to write this article and be serious. San Diego won a whopping 4 games last year. BYU could have benched all it's starters and still won this game. Just think we get to play at their place later. I don't think people appreciate the sacrifice the basketball team makes so the football team could be an independent. They will never complain but these games will never prepare them for tough games in March at the dance.

Both #21 Gonzaga and #16 Saint Mary's are ranked in Sagarin's Top 25, and BYU has already played #7 Baylor and #15 Wisconsin. There's no reason that BYU can't be just as prepared for the NCAA tournament playing in the WCC as in the MWC. Butler, Gonzaga, and others have already proven that you don't have to play in one of the "power" conferences to be competitive in the NCAA tournament.
btw, one of those four San Diego wins last year came at Utah, 67-64. Being in a power conference obviously isn't the end-all-be-all of college basketball.
