WA was really good, but they were beatable. Bryce Valley and Liahona beat them during the season last year. They just rose to another level when it mattered and took the championship. The same thing will happen this year. And you mentioned Liahona as a contender? Are you crazy? They aren't even playing a full schedule. I mean whoever did the scheduling for them this year totally dropped the ball. Only 17 games and two of them against Copper hills (where they lost by 40) and S Sevier...really? I was impressed with their program last year even though they did get killed in the championship, but it seems they've taken two steps backwards this year.
WA will take state this year in 2A before they get booted out just like they did from 1A last year. Here's for a 3A state title next year!
WA is over rated. They are beating teams like Waterford, North Sanpete, and Layton Christian by six points. That doesn't look like a 2A State Championship caliber team. Yes, they beat S. Sevier, but it was a fluke. It was the first game of the season and who wouldn't be hyped up for a game against the defending 2A state champions. Its the same story different year for SS, last year everybody was talking about how unstoppable S. Summit was and that S. Sevier couldn't beat them, but it happened. Same thing will happen this year. The next time these two teams meet will probably be in the Semi Finals, or the Championship and SS will beat them. They have better players and a more seasoned coaching staff. Not to mention that SS has a chip on its shoulder now. I think Wasatch Academy will hang around in 2A for a while.
LCA will be in the mix. Playing fremont and copper hills this week. Lots of potential with two key players still out from football injuries. May not win title but definitely will be a very tough out.
