"With the clock ticking ever closer to Jan. 10 and the New Hampshire presidential primary that will make or break the candidacy of Jon Huntsman Jr..."
Hunstman's candidacy has been "DOA" since the time he declared. If New Hamshire is a "make or break" primary, I guess the GOP will be one less candidate after the primary.
Huntsmanâs presidential campaign has one purpose and one purpose alone: to weaken Romney, so that a weaker Republican is nominated, so Obama can win. For that act: I will never support Huntsman for any office again.
I look forward to seeing Romney shut down many government programs and agencies that aren't needed, that waste taxpayer dollars. Shutting down a company that isn't being productive is a plus in my book.
If that company can be more profitable elsewhere (Mexico) that is the fault of too much regulation and taxation that discourages investment here. Romney knows all about the effect of that and will work to get rid of those conditions. He knows what it will take to get companies to bring their business back to the US.
What it boils down to is: are we going to just look at the surface (people were laid off) or the real issues (government regulation that discourages US business and make it more profitable to go elsewhere)? Huntsman is using the emotional issue of lay-offs to attack Romney, just like the liberals do.
Romney was doing his job making many companies more profitable, creating thousands of jobs, but cutting some. That is free enterprise. Anyone who would criticize him for that is either opportunistic, anti-capitalism, or ignorant. Which is it, Huntsman and Gingrich?
If Huntsman is a good manager, why have only a couple of Utah Republican state legislators endorsed his candidacy? Nearly 60 Utah Republican legislators have endorsed Romney. Huntsman's own former chief of staff, Congressman Jason Chaffetz, has endorsed Romney. Huntsman Lt. Gov., current Governor Gary Herbert, won't endorse him.
In many conversations I've had with friends and relatives who have worked in Utah state government and from my contacts with several state legislators, they say Jon Huntstman was a poor manager. For Huntsman to be critizing Romney is like a ten-year old Jr. Jazz player criticizing Jimmer.
I am a Romney supporter.
Having declared myself, I would like to answer for this employment charge laid against him the way I see it. I have been at different times in my life involved in several different careers. In one I was responsible for the care and condition of the property (a golf course) while in another my responsibility was to the conservation of soil and water. While operating the golf course I used water liberally. In the other I tried to conserve water. The focus of my responsibilities created my priorities.
This is where the two meet. I understand and can appreciate all the ramifications of water usage and thus am well able to implement decisions based on what is most important now, while recognizing priorities change. That is where Romney can be most effective. He has the mastery of the subject so can utilize the knowledge to accomplish different goals depending on what is most important at the time. While at Bain, he restructured and manipulated to save and strengthen the company. As President his criteria will not be a single company but the country, which he can affect by manipulation for national goals.
Blah, Blah, Blah.
I guess when one is at the bottom of every poll he/she must try anything.
Huntsman go home - wait, does he still call Utah home? Huntsman, go away - far away!
RE: nick "Huntsman's own former chief of staff, Congressman Jason Chaffetz, has endorsed Romney. Huntsman Lt. Gov., current Governor Gary Herbert, won't endorse him." Priceless! Such action speaks volumes.

I do not agree.
Taxes in America are the lowest since the 1950's.
*'Tax bills in 2009 at lowest level since 1950' - By Dennis Cauchon - USA Today - 05/02/2010
To claim that 'overregulation and taxes' are driving business OUT of America is simply not true.
Profit, is motivating comapnies to go overseas.
The 'joy' of capitalism, is that it is NOT loyal to country.
Also:
*'Let Detroit Go Bankrupt' - By Mitt Romney - NY Times - 11/18/08
Result?
*'How Many Jobs Depend on the Big Three?' - By CATHERINE RAMPELL - NY Times - 11/17/08
'...the Detroit Three would result in direct and indirect job losses of 2.5 million to 3 million in 2009.'
I would say Americans loosing an estimated 3 MILLION American jobs...
will NOT help the economy.
The next worse thing than losing the nomination for Huntsman is to have Romney get elected. It would ruin any chance for Jon in 2016.
Will the Romney supporters please go to the front of the line when more businesses want to layoff and send part of their business enterprise overseas, while those at the top make millions off of the decision. You are supporting Romney's decision to do this, but I'd bet my next paycheck that if this happened to you, your opinion would be the polar opposite.
"If that company can be more profitable elsewhere (Mexico) that is the fault of too much regulation and taxation that discourages investment here. I love this quote. Please, oh please, tell me exactly how is he going to do this. Ireland lowered its corporate taxes to next to nothing. Accenture moved its headquarters there. This is a company of 230,000 employees. How many jobs do you think were created in Ireland.... take a guess...... How many executives from Accenture moved bringing their high incomes to Ireland. Boeing moved its headquarters from Seattle to take advantages of tax breaks Chicago was willing to give it. How many jobs do you think Boeing moved to Chicago?
This is the biggest economics lie out there. Government regulation is not why companies jobs move from the US to places like China. China's bureaucracy and graff makes the US look like the fast lane. Lies propagated by those who don't have a clue. Its wages, wages and wages.

Yeah, who needs clean air and water, America can easily compete if they weren't hampered by a livable wage.
It never ceases to amaze me how easily people will sell their humanity to save or make dollar.
The republicans are trying to make America a 3rd world country by destroying the middle class,
instead of bringing other countries up to American standards of humanity.
Mitt is a poor excuse for leadership, and Huntsman is right to point out his success a failure.
Romney to Gingrich: If you can't stand the heat, wait until Obama's Hell's kitchen. On the first stop of his statewide bus tour today, Mitt Romney delivered a blunt message to rival Newt Gingrich when it comes to his Super PAC's attack ads: You think this is bad? You ain't seen nothing yet. I know that the speaker would like to say that we shouldn't have any negativity. But, look, if you can't handle the heat in this little kitchen, the heat that's going to come from Obama's Hell's kitchen is going to be a heck of a lot hotter. We have to show that we, as a Republican Party, and as a candidate that we can stand up to the barrage that's going to come from the Obama world.

Oh dear, quick, hand me a Glenn Beck tissue, I'm about to cry, then after the sniff sniff, sip on my diet coke.
My views.
Apparently Huntsman's entire purpose is to tear down Romney. He has no chance according to the polls, yet continues to ride things out, hoping to dissuade a few Romney voters.
As the re-Publican nominee, Romney will spin everything to defeat President Obama.
That's the nature of false witness politics.
So, it's ok for Mitt to practice false witness politics, yet not ok for another re-Publican to do the same?
First false witness and then hypocrisy.
Hunstman is the best candidate the Republicans have. Unfortunately, he's way too moderate in his views to play for that team.
At least he's doing a great job of exposing Romney for the flip-flopper he is.
Romney will win the nomination even though he currently trails Gingrich and even if he continues to trail Gingrich the next few months. Why? Because the majority of those that wouldn't vote for Romney now have him as their second choice. So as the Huntsmans and Santorums and Bachmans start giving up, their supporters will mostly go to Romney. Even though Gingrich leads, he needs to go on the offensive to try and bury Romney now. The best thing that could happen for Romney in Iowa, besides winning it outright, is to have Paul win it since he has no chance of getting the nomination. Hopefully Paul doesn't decide to run independent though, and siphon votes from the Republicans, essentially handing the election to Obama by default.
@nick
There's a very good reason Utah state Legislatures won't endorse Huntsman.
He's too moderate for them.
If you've paid attention at all, you would have realized the Legislature spent the entire 2011 session undoing as many of Huntsman's policies as they could.
Policies that saved the state money (4-day workweek), looked to grow business in the state (Private clubs/alcohol laws), and raised taxes on food that Huntsman had lowered.
In America, Huntsman is a Moderate Republican. In Utah, he's a Liberal Democrat.
Thus, the lack of endorsements from Utah politicians.
Having worked for both Jon Huntsman and Gary Herbert, your friends have it exactly backwards. One was very educated, very intelligent, very forward-thinking, and actually did a decent job of rewarding employees. The current governor isn't qualified to run a hot dog stand on State St.
Pagan. Thanks for changing the world for the rest of us. I feel so much better.
What I simply ask me is am I and my family better off than we were 3 .... long .... years ago? The answer to that question is a resounding "no". You must have some secret potion about Obama, but I'm not buying it. The absolute worst choice since Carter. A single-term governor who was all talk and is proving to be in way over his head.
I'm looking for a fresh perspective. And, I do my own research and reading on various subjects. I don't need your copy and paste beauties that do nothing more than jump at me as if you're yelling your response. I didn't think we're supposed to yell in these posts.
