This study confirms what has been known for ages: "charity never faileth"
Works ever time.
Not just in Marriage either.
I would refer to this as selflessness .. a marriage cannot be successful without it.
Happily married for 27 years. I couldn't agree with this article any more. Generosity is the key, in deed! I also like what "The Jimmer" and "ClarkKent" said above about Charity and Shelflessness. So true. So true!
This line from the article:
"In fact, generosity ranked just BEHIND sexual satisfaction and commitment as a predictor of a happy marriage."
Interesting how the top things are sexual satisfaction and commitment and yet the article is all about the importance of generosity. Why not make the article about what the survey showed where the most significant contributors to a happy marriage in order of their significance?
VocalLocal....could it just be that sexual satisfaction is better because a husband helped with the kids, dried the dishes, and kissed her neck while her hands were in the dishwater? Maybe he feels her commitment because she stops what she's doing and is eager to hear about his day, or has surprised him with his favorite meal. A generous spouse multiplies happiness in marriage.
