Regardless of disclosure of conflicts by the news media, it still violates a position of trust in report news as fact and not political tripe. The news media is expected to have some values and respect for their trust so that they are not compromised in their reports.
The entire news media must be independent, uncompromising, and honest above all other money making endeavors. Once money buys their souls, they are of no value as news reporters and should be discharged of all media duties forever.
