broadcasting 32 of the 35 bowl games. Glad ESPN is on BYU's side!
How did Virginia Tech get a BCS bid? The last little bit of respect I had for
the BCS and what they are trying to accomplish is now gone. Boise State, Kansas
State or Baylor were more deserving of an at large bid than VT. I guess the BCS
doesn't really believe in their own rankings.
I'll probably watch the majority of the bowl games, I always do. I actually like
the bowls and am not a big playoff proponent. All of the bowl games over the
next month make for the majority of my tv viewing for the entire next year. I
really do like watching them. And yes I will be hoping all 3 teams
from Utah win their games although if utah does lose theirs I'll have a good
time beating up the utah "fans" about it. That one for me is win/win
regardless of the outcome.
I know TCU went 10-2 and Boise went 11-1. However, TCU went undeafeted in the
MWC. Boise Lost there one game to TCU. Because of this, TCU won the MWC
championship. So, Can someone please tell me why TCU is not going to the Las
Only one game I won't watch... The Rematch.
I know it is only one man's opinion, but I was reading Mike Huguenin, Yahoo!
Sports reporter, on his list of bowl games, worst to best. Number 11 on his
list? BYU versus Tulsa. And yes, he took his shots at two teams that only beat
mediocre competition.Where was the storied and prestigous Sun Bowl,
with Utah in it? Number 17.I'm just sayin'. I agree, Duckie. Too
many respected and honored missionaries who served here and bleed Utah red to
cheer against them. To much history to cheer for them.
All I will say is that the BC$ has hit a new low this year. I didn't think that
Y Grad/Y Dad:I guess everyone has their opinion. I'll say the Sun
Bowl is more interesting that BYU vs. Tulsa. I would have liked BYU to have
played Houston or even Southern Miss to see if their 9-3 record was a true
indicator of a team that improved after some early setbacks or a paper tiger. A
win over Tulsa will keep me clueless on that matter still and probably the same
thing could be said for Tulsa if they beat BYU...
BYU bowl game this year is like when BYU played in the game in MWC or WAC
conference. Just like last year bowl game against Texas El Paso. its a game but
not a bowl game against a ranked team (top 25). Utah's at least playing a team
(Georgia Tech) from with well known football history and well known conference
in ACC. Both teams should win against their respective bowl opponents and
neither team will be ranked even with a win over their opponent. Utah's
nonranking is because of the number losses that they had this season and BYU's
is because of it's perceived weak strength of schedule by pollsters (coaches and
sports media) even with a 9-3 season. If BYU had this 9-3 record in PAC12,
Big12, or Big East conference, they would be ranked in the top 25 and playing in
a better bowl game payout than this Armed Forces Bowl.
NoblepromiseIt's laughable the double-standard Utah fans have. All
those years BYU was playing teams with a well known football history and from a
well known conference, Utah fans whined every year about what a lousy bowl BYU
was playing in.Now Utah is playing a similar team in a much worse
location and you pretend that you're thrilled beyond belief that you get to play
in El Paso.BYU fans helped the Holiday and Las Vegas bowls set all
kinds of attendance records.Utah fans won't even show up at the Sun
The bowls system stinks. We need a playoff now. Mind-numbing match-ups of 6-6
teams. 40 plus bowl champions will emerge victorious...whoop ti doo.
No doubt Ute faithful are glad its ASU and not the Utes going to Vegas again vs.
Boise State. We would get embarrassed again if we were in Sam Boyd Stadium vs.
the Broncos, with a chip on their shoulder. ASU and the PAC 12 get routed in
this one!Hopefully, Ga. Tech will show up in El Paso with little
motivation again which will give us a chance. Otherwise - - we get beat a
second consecutive bowl game. Hopefully, there will be no hangover from the
holiday break and eating too much turkey - - and pray that John White is at full
strength or else it will be a long trip back from Texas.
"No doubt Ute faithful are glad its ASU and not the Utes going to Vegas
again vs. Boise State."armchairI am. Bowl parity is
important for a nice game. Just like I would be unhappy if the Utes had to face
Boise St in the Vegas, I was disappointed when the Utes drew Pitt in the 2005
Fiesta. The Utah-Navy and Utah-Cal games a few years back were nice
examples of good parity. I think the Georgia Tech game should be good, provided
the Utes can do a decent job preparing for the triple option. I
expect a low scoring game, with the relatively low points coming off big
plays.===="So, Can someone please tell me why TCU is not going
to the Las Vegas Bowl?"-Texas Ute FanI beleive the Vegas
bowl gets the first pick from the MWC, assuming no BCS invite, not necessarily
the #1 team from the conference. They used that pick on Boise St., figuring they
were a more lucrative team, and potentially a more well travelled regional
