Start with Brother Holmoe, he's the one that needs to transfer!

I miss my Cougars of old.

Neither are going anywhere. It's a slow week so let's start a controvery or at least fuel the flames. If Heaps could get the Cougars to produce points and win, he'd start. He can't, at least not right now, and he doesn't (start). Every other team in the country see's exactly what Bronco see's! He will stay at BYU and start his Jr.and Sr. year and be possibly a great QB. As a business owner, I often see great potential in an employee that they often aren't reaching. I tell them they have great potential, just as Bronco has done with Haps; but they have to work hard, learn, and tap into that potential. Heaps will do so...in time!

Good idea. He and his family should pack up and leave for NC State, then USC, try for Stanford and fail, then go to the Tennessee Titans, then onto UCLA, then the Utes and then lose to Colorado. This is the true path to coaching success in Div 1 football.

Bronco just signed a 3 year contract extension last year iirc. My impression of his comments after it was announced was that he could have signed for more but he was more comfortable with 3 years. I think he was hoping to train his replacement (Doman) over the next 3 years and then walk away from coaching for awhile. I could see him going into the corporate world or the lecture circuit for awhile. I don't think he loves being a head coach and all the surrounding crap that goes along with it.

If I were a "journalist" and got paid by the number of comments on my articles, I would make wild assumptions fueled by poor research and pure specualtion to create an article that would likely produce comments.

This is a stupid article. BYU is what Bronco has made it. The future is only as bright as Bronco's quarterback choice. I can't believe that Bronco can't learn. We are right back where we were last year, no improvement.

BYU needs to get a quarterback coach who can get this sorted out (Ty Detmer)! I can't believe that the media hasn't spent more time on this issue. I like Dolman, but as a new OC, he obviously isn't doing an acceptable job as quarterbacks coach.

I think Bronco is a great fit at BYU. He understands the university, the system, and what it means to be at BYU. That is why I would think Penn State would possibly be looking at Bronco. He has a shining character background, which would help Penn State a lot right now, he knows how to run a tight ship, and he even has some experience following a legend, although he was a few years removed from Lavelle.
I hope that he stays. It's tough to think of anyone who would be a good replacement-very few people have the combination of the BYU mentality and coaching ability.

I guess I don't understand contracts. Bronco signed a long term contract with BYU. As a result BYU is obligated to pay him X number of dollars for X number of years. If they decide to fire him, they still have to pay him what they committed to pay him. Why is Bronco not obligated to stay for X number of years to fulfill the contract? Can he leave anytime he wants with no financial consequence?

I hope both Bronco and Jake stick around. I would be very surprised if Bronco leaves, but Jake has had numerous opportunities to say he is committed to the program and is staying and he just says now is not the time to discuss it. This leads me to believe he will transfer.

But, I was really worried when Ben Olsen transferred and Max Hall filled in just fine. Max accomplished more than Ben ever would have if he had stayed at BYU.

Looking forward to Taysom Hill's arrival.

Those who have played competitive football know that it takes more than athleticism and talent to excel at the game. You must be willing to hit and take a hit. The game is a game of heart. Riley has heart. Jake has not proven he has the heart to chase down his own interception or "sacrifice" his body to make a pass. Riley has and does. That is why the other players on the line and elsewhere respect him. He is willing to give and to sacrifice the same as they are willing. Until jake leans to do that I cant see why any division I team would want him.

Snore, this must be pick on BYU week. Het Rock say hi to monson when you two have lunch and compare next weeks notes.

Maybe Andy Reid will get fired in Philadelphia and come knocking. That would be the only reason I would consider replacing Bronco at this point.

I can tell this. ASU fans would be EXTREMELY disappointed if Bronco were hired to coach at ASU.

Well let's post a little truth for your benefit. 17-14 loss, at home, against one of the worst teams in college football, breaking a 4 year road losing streak for them.

That's truth. And it's hilarious!

Well this article was kind of a waste of time, cause I doubt either of those 2 things will happen unfortunately.. But while I am already here wasting my time I figured I would leave my opinion.

First of all, Jake has easily one of the best arms of any QB that has ever been at BYU, he is also a playbook wiz and has a extremely high Football IQ. Honestly, he should never have come to BYU, the offense does not fit his strengths and it appears the Offensive Coordinator is either too foolish or stubborn to tailor his offensive schemes to a prototypical QB. The short slant and hook routes do not suit Jake's skill set, not to mention any good defense can easily adjust to defend these routes. As long as BYU maintains the conservative play calling and time chewing offensive system, they will not see any real success.
Heaps should transfer.

And Bronco should be the Defensive Coordinator, not the Head Coach. He is content in being mediocre and spends more times reading random books and talking about them on KSL, than focusing on moving the BYU program forward. I understand winning football games is 5th on his list, but he is the HEAD COACH of a D1 football team. He should manage his time better so he can somehow make winning football games a higher priority.

Agree. So is 54-10 and your 2 week childish tantrum of silence.

First:

1) Bronco is not going anywhere. Bronco is perfect for BYU

2) No BIG PROGRAM will ever hire Bronco. Bronco doesn't put in half the hours these coaches are (i.e., Saban). Bronco doesn't like recruiting (don't get mad at me, he admits that). BYU recruits decently to well but that is a because it sells itself to a particular athlete. Bronco would get eaten alive trying to recruit at a national place like Penn St. Not that he couldn't see his pitch (Band of Brothers), but that he admitedly doesn't like begging HS kids to play for him. He also would have more integrity than a lot of the major coaches.

3) Bronco really hasn't won big at BYU in order to garner national respect. He's not being mentioned in every job like Chris Peterson. PAtterson was a hot commodity last year. Whittingham had some decent offers (Tenn) 2 years ago. Bronco early at BYU could have landed a PAC10 job like UCLA (he was a candidate) however his name is not nearly as hot now.

4) Heaps: Would probably find a major program to take him but not "given the keys"...
