With so many players on the All PAC-12 team it was not a good but not a great
As a young boy growing up in Utah with football season tickets I remember
watching and listening to some great games against stiff competition. For
example, in '68 we played Nebraska, Oregon State, Washington State, Oregon,
Arizona State and Arizona. In 1973 we beat #8 ranked Arizona. During those
years, we played the Oregon schools the Arizona Schools and Washington State
regularly. As a longtime Utah footbal fan, it felt SO good this year
to step up and play those schools again. It was like returning home again. And
spanking BYU (as we regularly did back then) was just the icing on the cake. Thanks Utes!
Congratulations Utah on a great football season, in which the team's best
achievement was defeating BYU. Good job. Looking forward to basketball.
Monday after the game I listened to one of the (15 or so it seems) sports talk
radio hosts rail on the Utes for the most devastating loss in the history of
football. These are the same that were predicting before the season that the
Utes, with this team, would be lucky to win 2 PAC 12 games this year. Yes they
stumbled but in the big picture they did have a good, educational year and it is
a far cry better than the Mountain West or Independence. Go Utes!
