Well, this is the second program he ran into the ground. Let's see if anyone else wants to pick up someone who will destroy their football program. I was as suprised as anyone when UCLA picked him up, but then again, it is the PAC 12. IMO the PAC 12 is a petty thug conference. Anytime you have to petition to go to a bowl game with a losing record just shows how low your conference is and really how arrogant they are.

can't wait to watch the title game. it would be great to see a 5/5 team win the conference

Too bad, I liked to see him get womped by USC every year.

The team which won the South in the Greatest Conference in the USA is fired...the only thing I can think of is his team lost to Utah who was embarressed by Colorado...my how the domino's fall.

Gotta love those scores 50-0 by the Cross Town Rival and 59-0 by BYU.

Coaching is a tough business. Whit is certainly not in jeopardy after one year, but at what point do fans / administrators start looking for a replacement for him? If the Utes are 7-5 again next season, is that acceptable? What about three seasons at 7-5? Utes schedule will be even more challenging next year, with games against Oregon and Stanford in place of lower rated teams.

Arizona, Arizona State and UCLA will be bringing in new coaches who will be gunning for wins against Utah. Colorado won't accept this type of year from their new coach indefinately. It's all about winning.

Even at BYU, three lackluster Crowton years were too many after a stellar first year.

Maintaining the dominance that BYU and Utah had in the MWC will be challenging as an Indy (once the schedule gets ramped up)and member of the PAC12. Hopefully the coaches can rise to the occassion.

Love the interest in Utah and the PAC 12 by Cougar fans.

Keep it coming.

Unfortunately he will get another job. Mr. Holmoe ran the Cal program directly into probation and he got himself a new gig.

Collegiate coaching is a brutal business. No doubt that is why bigtime programs schedule as many patsies as possible to pad their W-L records. I don't think victories versus any teams in a lower classification should be counted in either basketball or football. It's just wrong. I also think that unless there are improprieties in a program, both the coaches and administrations should be held to the full contract with coaches. Coaches should not be allowed to run off to another job, nor should they be relieved of duties early. I mean really, what is a contract anyway?

Neuheisel was a darling of the media and the most overrated head coach in college football. It will be interesting to see which program he ruins next.

After last weekend's performance, every team in the PAC-12 (went)South should be declared ineligible for any more football this year. Let's call it a mercy rule. For the fans.

But...he is the coach of the champions of the mighty PAC 12 South!

We all knew this was coming when he made the coaching changes over the summer. This is bad news for the u, as UCLA should improve with the coaching change and actually get off of the "25 Worst AQ football teams".

I was wondering if you could say Neuheissel ran CU into the ground. If so it would be three programs he ran into the ground: CU, UW and UCLA...

And yes, the Utes should get used to a lot of 7-5 seasons. Sometimes 8-4 and 9-3 on a very good year but 5-7, 6-6 on a bad year but the PAC-12 was down this year and like the poster said above, new coaches that know how to win will be hired at AZ State and UCLA, Rodriguez will want redemption at U of A which will be a better fit for his offense than Michigan and USC will be off probation.

Utah could maybe get him but they love Whittingham, the guy who lost to UNLV 27 - 0 and said "I don't know why we lost" and the guy who lost at home to Colorado last Friday, you know, the team that hadn't won on the road in 4 years. If Rick and Kyle both applied for the same job the hiring authority would ne hard-pressed to pick a winner.

I understand Rick has ruined 3 programs, not just two, so maybe he'd get the edge over Kyle. It's pretty funny that Kyle has 54 - 10 to keep him employed and UCLA's biggest loss ever was to BYU. Oh well, beat those Cougars from Provo if you want to keep your job.

Re: toosmartforyou

That is the most ridiculous post I've read in a while. Have you forgotten about an undefeated season and BCS bowl victory a mere couple of years ago? Who cares about the beat down we gave to our little brothers again this year. We have much bigger fish to fry and Kyle Whittingham is the perfect person to get the job done.

Go wallow in your confererence of irrelevance and don't worry about Kyle!!

Throw in all the teams, those PAC-12 South teams defeated this year, and you've got yourself a deal.

Who needs the helicopter bowl anyway?

The fact that the Pac-12 South champion just fired its coach is all you need to know about the Pac-12 South.
