A solid win over a very good Nevada squad. The Ags played to win, with the last 5:14 being a gutsy effort to prevail.
Sorry, but I get a little depressed reading Brad Rock on the Ags. He finds a way to diminish most anything, concentrating a bit too much on negatives and/or the accumulated problems of the past rather than celebrating the moment/current accomplishment. Yes, we've had our problems; they've been significant and they've been rehashed endlessly. But today I prefer to concentrate on the positives of the Nevada victory, this season, and all that Gary Andersen has helped this team accomplish--a true testament to willpower and never giving up.
We've got plenty of room for improvement, but this is great progress. And it's fun. The program and its supporters have a right to feel good about today, and the direction we're headed in.
Good on ya, GA and crew!
I'm too happy to be unhappy with the article. In Brad's defense I vividly recall mentally quitting on the Aggies after they dropped to 2-5 but alas I hung in there with some sliver of hope that they could turn it around and unbelievably they have. The turn around has been as improbable as all the early season losses were.
The thing that was so frustrating soon became what was also so rewarding and that was that despite the painful losses you could see beyond argument that this team had serious talent and character. Turbin and Wagner are NFL quality I wish those two much success at the next level.
Regardless of the tone of the article you cannot argue that part of describing the joy is understanding the pain that has been Aggie football. It adds context to a situation that in previous years has been almost unbearable and finally is victorious and glorious, all rolled into one. Boom goes the dynamite.
Nice work Aggies.
Great job, Aggies. Glad to see the USU program is advancing. Don't pull a Ute and lose to a team you should beat... you should beat New Mexico State. Congrats.
Way to go Aggies. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this game and am excited that USU has finally broken through--they've been very close for a few years now. USU is a program on the rise.
That was a great win yesterday. All of the hard work Coach A and his staff have put in for 3 years is finally paying off. This is a program that is on the rise and far from hitting a plateau.
Go Big Blue!!!
Next year, USU could be favored to win whats left of the WAC. Nevada, Fresno State, and Hawaii will be gone. LA Tech, San Jose State, Idaho, New Mexico State, and new comers Texas State and Texas-San Antonio. USU has a chance to win it if they can continue to improve.
Anyway, savor the moment. The bowl is guaranteed if you win, but still very possible even if you lose. If BYU can defeat Hawaii next week, Hawaii could be your destination.
I am glad that three teams from my home state are going bowling this year.
congratulations aggies
Kudos to the Aggies who have kept on working to improve as the season has progressed. And with wins over Auburn and Colorado State that they could not hang onto, the record should look even better. Best wishes to the Aggies in their game against NMSU a win would be huge.
