Chris B
Give us a prediction for today's big game Bro?

Mine are:
1. Independence will ring quietly today.
2. Only Cougie Nation really cares about the game.
3. It has no relevance to anything...anywhere.
4. It will be aired on ESPN The Ochoa...
5. Coach Doman will redeem himself by running up the score.
6. Broncie will wear a Long Sleeve BofB tee shirt.
7. The D line will leave the sideline by coming out of a 4 point stance.
8. After the 33-0 win...someone on this board will post something about 1984.

This is a game that I am sure will generate lots of excitement out side of Utah Valley as well as among the Blue faithful in the LES. The ESPN ratings should be over the top!

Owens Cross Roads, AL

NMSt. wins if: BYU heads to Hogi Yogi instead of LES, otherwise...

Yawn, when there is more drama in the personalities on the team than the action on the field they call it NASCAR.

Wake me up for BYU's 4 game season in 2012.

Considering all that has happened this week and yet to come, I thought it well to refresh our memory and inform a younger set of readers. WEB sites tend to cover such statistics back 33 years. I did not find this list, however, I kept it myself. Following are the so called BCS teams defeated by BYU in that time span by West to East and conferences, many more than once or twice: Washington,Wash State,Oregon, Ore State,UCLA, Arizona,Az State,Colorado,Kansas State,Missouri,Oklahoma,Texas,Texas A&M, Baylor,Notre Dame,Michigan.Wisconsin,Penn State,Mississippi,Miss State, Miami, Virginia,Pitt,Syracuse,Temple( when it was ranked)Boston College. BYU lost to defending national champion Georgia via a last second 50 yard field goal by future all pro K Butler. The BY who business was around even then. The great Vince Dooley had spent a week telling the Atlanta and Athens media BYU was a fine football team. The Cougars would have beaten a lesser man.

I think it is a disservice to BYU's seniors that senior day occurs at home against New Mexico state... Oh how the mighty have fallen. That's what people don't understand about independence. Sure it may work out in 5 years, but what about these kids who were recruited to play for a conference championship? Instead they are stuck playing on ESPN U, in the freezing snow against New Mexico diddly state on senior day? BYU should have stayed in the MWC, at least they would be playing BSU, Air Force, or someone decent, and the seniors would have a reason to get up for the game... Sigh.

Sorry Tom Holmoe but as a season ticket holder I am skipping this game rather than freezing from 8:30-11:30 PM watching a scrimmage. I know opponents will improve next year. I never thought I would voluntarily miss a BYU game.

Those are great. Mine are:

1- The viewer ratings will decline miserably after half time.
2- Jake Hypes will walk to the sideline after throwing a pick without trying to tackle the player.
3- Cougie nation will still think Jake Hypes is a god.
4- Couch Broncie will continue to impersonate Lavell Edwards by not smiling.
5- The Cougies won't get any closer to a conference championship or a national championship.
6- After every tackle, the players will celebrate like they have just won the Superbowl.
7- Cougie nation will spin this game in one way or another.
8- Cougie nation will still sing primary songs during the game.

Anyone else have any?

I'm not sure what's more embarrassing - playing New Mexico State in November, or playing them at 8:30 PM on a SATURDAY.

It is so comical to see that there are more UTE fans posting on this game day glance then there are UTE fans on Utah's game day glance. Little Brother syndrome is alive and well.

"I'm not sure what's more embarrassing - playing New Mexico State in November, or playing them at 8:30 PM on a SATURDAY."

While you're pondering that triviality, maybe you could give us your "insight" on what's more embarassing:

--losing to DII Adams State
--almost losing an NAIA school
--being blown out by the worst team in the MWC
--only having six fans show up for today's Montana State game

Orem, UT

We'll be at the game, bundled up, and enjoying watching another future BYU QB great hone his skills.

Centerville, UT

It's too bad that BYU couldn't at least have gotten some traditional opponents on the schedule. I understand that Utah is too high and mighty now to play BYU in November now, what with their bid for the Rose Bowl every year. But it would at least feel more like November if BYU was playing Wyoming or Air Force. And hopefully, in future Novembers, BYU and Utah State can play.

And to all ute trolls,
Explain this to all of us, since you all love this supposed pac superiority and sugaring stuff. How in the world is it possible for the #2 team in the nation with an SOS of 5 and a Sagarin of 2, get beat by a team with a Sagarin of 42 ??????

I just don't get it.

The BCS is still bogus, rankings and the "Sagarin" are just objective mumbo jumbo with computer mumbo jumbo mixed in. CU, UCLA, Zona and Wazzooo are chump teams that are no better than any WAC team. No matter who they supposedly have played. The Ute/Wazzoo game is just as much a snoozer as any Byu game this time of year. Like the Sun bowl is some prestigious bowl saved only for the elitist of teams. Whatever.

I wasn't aware of any "future BYU QB great" who'll be playing today. If you're referring to Jake Hypes, I'd recommend staying off that "Y Sparkle" they serve at BYU.

He has to be one of (if not) the most overrated players I've ever seen wearing a BYU football jersey.

He Chris B., go see my post at Utah Utes football: Gameday glance. Have fun if you like to.

And take a look at the Top 25 scoreboard today. Pretty much most of the top 25 are playing a bunch of nobody's.

I can see your passion for BYU Football.

One problem, with your premise, could be that BYU has not played, for example:
Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State (never defeated/not played USC, Stanford or CAL?) in some combination, in the same year.

BYU could defeat the teams listed above, in a conference schedule, in any given year.

They could also end up 7-5, 6-6, 5-7 or worse.

For example:
How does a 3-5 Northwestern beat Nebraska?
How does a 3-6 Washington State beat Arizona State?
How does a 5-4 Iowa State beat Oklahoma State?

BYU fans would love to see a schedule that included ("so called BCS") teams like Northwestern, Washington State or Iowa State. Three easy wins? Nebraska, Arizona State and Oklahoma State thought so before they played.

By "record", NMSU, SJSU, Idaho, are equal to BCS teams with similar W-L records.

Could those teams beat Northwestern, Washington State or Iowa State?

Anything can happen on any given Saturday.

Can BYU continue to put up consecutive 10 win seasons playing 8 BCS teams, 3 Non-AQ's and 1 FCS every year?

Stay tuned.

Nothing like Holmoe padding schedule trying to make anyone or anything look good. For those of you that are hardcore BYU folks, did you ever wonder why other schools don't want to play you? Think about it. If you answer is your such a powerhouse that your reputation strikes fear in their hearts, that's the wrong answer.

Salt Lake City, UT

The utes must not be playing this week since the trolls are out in force.
1. ute nation still thinks they are in the running for NC 2011.
2. More staggering ute fans will injure themselves walking back to their cars than their team will.
3. Football team ACT scores qualify them for entrance to middle school.
4. Trying to score on BYU articles is easier than scoring against Adams St.

Who is this "future BYU QB great"?

Jake Hypes is such an overrated QB bust. I cannot believe you haven't noticed this by now. Have fun watching him get mad at his line for almost getting hit.
