I agree with most of your article, but it really hurts your credibility when you purposely misrepresent others.

"Childhood experts" don't say don't punish a child who has done something wrong - they merely claim that since children are human beings and capable of higher level reasoning (you know, that thing that separates us from the other animals), there are ways to teach them that don't include physical violence.

It is a lot easier to teach a child that hitting is wrong if you don't actually use hitting to try to make that point.

As for parents who think their precious child can do no wrong, those have always existed and there have always been helicopter parents - we just didn't make excuses for them by blaming it on society. Nor did we use the absence of helicopter parents to excuse inappropriate behavior on the part of perpetrators.

As you state, the world is not the same. What worked in the past won't work today. To bemoan it while denigrating efforts to find a new method does nothing to support your point or help solve the issues.
