What a mindless argument for gun control. Holder should be fired.
Regardless of Holder and Feinstein's assertions, we do not have a gun problem along our Southern border.
Only a very small percentage of the total number of weapons recovered in Mexico originate in this country. Most of the weapons recovered in Mexicooriginate elsewhere in Latin America, including weapons originally issued to Mexican military and police.
Additionally, it is important to note that the Bush administration did not allow guns to get into Mexico. They were seized on this side of the border.
Finally, the actions of this administration in allowing guns to move into the underground market with no tracing at all beyond the initial buyer go far beyond simply being stupid. Those actions are criminal. Allowing straw buyers to obtain weapons, allowing those weapons to cross the border, knowingly facilitating the possession of weapons by felons and parties engaged in criminal conspiracies to smuggle drugs are all serious felonies. Those who participated in such actions need to be charged and tried here, then offered to Mexico for extradition if Mexican law recognizes furnishing weapons to murderers as a criminal act.
We don't have a gun control problem, we have a criminal problem, and unfortunatley many of them work for the Department of Justice (and possibly other federal agencies)!
This was clearly a scheme hatched at the highest levels of the Obama administration to provide false justification for more gun laws, and they got caught at their trickery. And now thay are brazenly trying to pull it off anyway!
The mere fact that the dealers selling the guns were ordered to break the law and sell the guns to the clearly ineligible buyers shows that the current laws are sufficient. The failure is that of federal authorities ordering that the laws be ignored! They should be prosecuted and jailed for their ignoring the law.
Holder should be prosecuted when Congress finally gets the Obama administration to turn over all the evidence.
Meanwhile, Senators Hatch and Lee and Representatives Bishop, Matheson and Chaffetz should immediately demand Holder's resignation-- as 35 other members already have!
American guns ending up in Mexico you say? I have a simple idea to stop this problem...PROTECT THE BORDER!
I have watched/read the reports and proceedings several times on many occasions. The firearms dealers contacted the ATF and were instructed to "release the guns".
Seems that the existing laws are working.
Apparently somewhere, some folks in the BATF and/or DOJ are corrupt.
When an independent firm audits a company's "books", the auditors report to the Board of Directors, not to management. Why? Because the findings have a strong "tendency" to be "massaged" by management to mitigate any negative findings.
Holder SHOULD have known about this. He should fire those who should have informed him of this. And then, resign himself.

Ya gotta be kidding me. The US government illegally devises a plan to export guns to Mexico and then say there is a "private Citizen" gun control problem! The only problem we have in this country is a Ferderal Government problem, and Fienstien is at the top of the list.
Not gun control, but government control.
We don't need more gun control. We need more politician control.
Not only did the ATF brass ORDER the gun shop owners to sell the guns to the smugglers, they also ORDERED their Agents who were tracking the guns to break off surveillance and allow the guns to go into Mexico. On top of that, at least one Agent was ordered to use taxpayer money to purchase several handguns, and sold them to one of the smugglers.
Emails and memos have come to light which indicate that the brass in DC knew what was going on. Add to that the fact that Holder did a presentation in Mexico City in 2009 where he gave a speech listing some of the efforts the US was taking in combating the drug trade violence. He listed Fast and Furious in that speech. In February of this year, Obama said that Holder had never heard of Fast and Furious. In April, when Holder appeared before Congress, he said he had only heard of Fast and Furious a couple weeks prior. That's called perjury Mr. Holder. It's another one of those things called "laws" that you seem to have so much trouble understanding, administering, or upholding.
