That pro bowl player also went to Logan High.....

    It's all speculation.

Hansen and Nelson definitely don't care who s better in HS or in college. Those who doubt DJ's prospects should probably explain to his brother Riley why Riley is starting over a guaranteed-true-blue-All-American High School recruit-model type-Jake Heaps.

I'll tell you why...because you can never be sure who will show up at the next level. Utah's last homegrown NFL Pro Bowl product didn't even start until his Junior year in high school...and only got one offer to play D1--- from USU. Best player I ever played with/against in high school never started a D1 game. You never know.

    Who cares?

They are both fantastic players to watch. I haven't had this much fun watching a high school football team since Logan's 2005 team.

As for Logan v. East, obviously East has something to prove. I still have Logan winning by 20+. East will likely hold LHS to below 30 points, but I don't think East can score on Logan's defense.

No doubt, Hansen will be the better D1 prospect. And will contribute at then next level. DJ prolly not... But DJ is the better high school player, plain and simple. No one dominates the game this year like DJ does. Just like the year his brother took it all, Yea Riley is not in college what he was in High school. cause he's flippin 5'10" He still holds the national record for touchdowns in a year in high school (84) His brother is not too far behind.. Can't deminish the skill just cause it doesn't translate to the next level. Also I take issue that Logan's D is said to be not as good as LP's LP has given up 40 plus several times this year. Logan's Highest is 30

That was my 3rd time seeing D.J. play and I've seen Chase Hansen play 3 times as well. I will tell you that they are comparable. Their passing ability is about equal. Chase may be bigger and stronger but D.J. knows HOW to run, he has running back instincts. The only thing is that though they may be neck and neck right now, Nelson seems to have hit his ceiling. And Chase Hansen looks to have more room to grow. Go Logan beat East.

I hope Logan gets beat bad. I hope East wins by 50+ points. The way they pad stats for the QB is ridiculous. Logan should have ran the clock out at 8 min left in the game. They should be ashamed.

Hansen will be a better college player. DJ is a better High School player. The difference is DJ controls every play, no huddle, line audibles, he runs it or throws it on every play. He is the guy.
Hansen has options around him, other guys get touches etc. I watched both teams play Bountiful, and Logan is the better team.
I said it three weeks ago, not changing the story now.
Logan and East,The Braves will be great the next four years, so enjoy the moment.

DJ looks and plays like his brother. Don't know how well that pans out at the next level (I don't think his older brother is a good D1 QB). I'd give him a shot at another position. Regardless, at the high school level he is incredibly smart and tough and very good at running Logan's offense and making big plays out of nothing. With that said, the truth is Logan has spent the year making big plays out of something because they've got a well oiled machine. DJ is a great leader and playmaker for them. I don't think he holds a candle to Chase Hansen talent-wise, but after seeing both Logan and LP in person 4 times this year (3 times against my Braves), I'd say Logan would win a hypothetical head-to-head. LP's defense is better, but Logan's offense could outlast them in a track meet and they have more offensive playmakers than LP does.

I've heard all the comments on East and them keeping out their starters against logan, but the only two I really followed were the quarterback and the running back and they came in after two series. Who else did they hold out? I'm just curious. Yes I'm a logan fan, but I just wanted to know who else, becuase I don't follow east I didn't know. thanks

    Dear Logan fans,
Congratulations on your victory over the East JV team. Keep thinking that youve already won the game next week. Im afraid youre all in for a rude awakening. Games are won and lost on the line of scrimmage and Easts line looks like a college team. You will witness this first hand come next Friday. Enjoy the next 6 days of being undefeated because your season will end with a loss.

Gotta love the Logan fans trying to take little shots... "DJ is great, Chase is good" "Logan would play LP, but LP wouldn't" And I've followed your little computer rankings all year. This is the very first week Logan has been ranked higher. LP was ranked 8 points higher than anyone else after they beat Bingham. It is solely based off schedule. It is no indication that Logan could beat LP. So if/when LP beats Jordan and then Fremont/Syracuse, LP's ranking will skyrocket. How about ESPN's rankings where LP is ranked 14 in the west? We could debate rankings all day but they don't matter at all. And Lindsayii, if you were really at the Nridge game, than you saw literally the only game all year Chase has struggled at all if that's what you want to call it. Also, I'm sorry to say it but DJ is not a D1 QB. D1 athlete? Absolutely. But his skill set will not transfer to a D1 school.

I love all the conversation on here great points. Look we all know that Logan is a great team and you cant account for their tempo. They are fast the D has no time to think. Dj is a great high school qb. If you all remember correctly his bro did the same things in high school and put up crazy numbers too. But size is the key here. He is too small to play D1 qb. Look at his bro granted he plays for BYU but what is BYUs problem this yr? They dont have a qb. If he is so great why doesnt he have more offers from bigger schools? Hansen is the same player except he is 6'3 not 6'0. Thats why he translates to the college level better. Look im not taking anything away from logan they are really good. If any team can beat them its East. They are big upfont and we all know the only way to be logan is to keep the ball out of Nelsons hands. Slow the game down long drives and have to get a few stops. Easier said then done Logan wins but closer this time for sure.

Logan and Lone Peak did play 7 on 7 in a passing league scrimmage this past summer and Logan stayed with them. Hansen is a good QB and DJ is a great QB, both are D1 caliber athletes and both might play defense. As far as a 5A vs. 4A battle after the 18th LP would never sign up for that but Logan's Coach Favero would! LP has more to lose than Logan would in playing that game.

Logan is ranked #1 in the state and #77 in the nation at maxpreps. LP is tied for #2 in state with Fremont and #114 in nation based on Freeman rankings (like a BCS computer ranking).

Totally need an "and 1" this year LP & Logan,...Would be fun to watch only real comparible we have is Lp beat highland like 55 to 41, and Logan beat highland 28 to 13. Gotta think it could go either way.. As for Logan/East. It just feels like destiny just like the year his brother won it all. Can't fight the waves, it'll keep comin. East will hang in there thru halftime but Logan will extent to a 17 to 24 point win.
Logan has to be the funnest team to watch in the state. Regardless who would win. Most emotion, fastest, most big play's, Int's, touchdowns, and broken tackles, smart and gutsy coaching. Just relentless been a pleasure to watch

DJ makes Logan fantastic. But without him, I they still have 5 really good receivers who run good routes, no drops, make the first tackler miss. They also have a great running back. Remember, a really good qb left Logan when DJ got the starting job.
Also, they still have, arguably, 4a's best defense. If #22 doesn't bite hard and get burned on a trick play and pump fake, Bountiful doesn't score in the 2nd half against LHS starters. (If...if...but he did and props to Bountiful for scouting it and going after him).
Without DJ, Logan is vulnerable but still a contender, with DJ they are a video game.

East gets a chance to explain themselves next week. Until then, nothing any of us say matters.

I really get tired of the running up the score argument every week. If Logan had stopped playing, it would have been offensive to Bountiful. They were still playing and competing and scoring, and it would have been quite arrogant and foolish to have stopped playing earlier. A coach also needs to keep his team on the field to make sure the conditioning is there for the next team and game. I think there is no question about that at this point. Great conditioning! Then when coach does put in the subs and the other coach doesn't, and our sophomores start getting beat up a little, the coach says, okay, if we are still playing our starters.....I guess we will still play our starters. You cannot stop the production of this offense. I bet the Bountiful coaches and players do not feel like Logan ran up the score today. I bet they just felt honored to play with and stay with them for much of the game.

    @SincerelyDavis

East fans keep trying this lame excuse. The Starting QB for East was out the first two or three series, the coach then inserted the starter realizing he was in a free fall.

It simply does not matter, what will the story line be next week ?

Um we wanted to wait for next year when we are all rested and we have a new team yeah that's the ticket.

Can't deny that Nelson is an outstanding quarterback, but without him, Logan would be in trouble. As much as I don't want to admit it, they should have an easy time against East. it was not a 1 vs 2,

Logan is ranked #1, if anyone was ranked #2 it was olympus or Timpview or East, and who ever wins between Timpview and East now will get to learn just how stinkin good RJ Nelson is.

He will not lose, and will beat either East again by 30, or Timpview by 40!

DJ and the rest of the offense were a factory of production today, and if all our factories in America were that productive, we would not be in a bad economy right now! Wow describes it well! I also like how Tom Kirkland described it when he said, "DJ Nelson went off"! I hope that performance can quiet those who say DJ is not ready to be a quarterback at the next level. He is ready to be a quarterback at the next level. That should send a message that usu didn't commit him to come on to be a safety. Who do we get next week? Who do we want? I know the default answer is always whoever wins, but it would sure be nice to get another shot at Timp View.
