'With the race for the Republican presidential nomination heating up, Mormon college students deep in the heart of Texas are acclimating themselves to the increased attention Mitt Romney 's presidential aspirations bring to their religious observance.' - Article

For the record, I do not CARE about a persons religious observance, until it affects people OUTSIDE OF, that observance.

Like...me.

My question, like always is...

Where, are the jobs?

I'm happy to see people becoming more interested in what the LDS Church is about. Romney's campaign has been good for making people more aware. Good stuff.

The quotes of early church leaders by Hewitt, forces the inference that there are billions of earths with each having its own Jesus. And, according to a gospel doctrine class that I attended in Washington State, each earth has a backup in case one fails. We may not wish to address this issue but its out there, and non Mormons are discussing it.
Only a prophet is authorized to declare or clarify doctrine, but that is not what I hear church leaders teaching. Nor is it in accord with what I get from the scriptures. Isaiah 43:11, Hosea 13:4, and D &C 76:1 dont say that. I understood Elder McConkie to teach that Jesus atonement was infinite in time and space. Moses was taught that God has created worlds without number and did so through His son, Jesus Christ. Marion G. Romney taught that Jesus was also the Redeemer of those worlds.
I understand that these things are sacred and are not to be spoken of lightly, but its already out there and we ought to have a clearer understanding why others may consider us lacking in our worship.

I don't understand what I did but my comment above was a continuation of a comment about Hugh Hewitt's book "A Mormon in the White House?"
He said that there were 3 issues that Mitt Romney had to address but he positive things to say. The one issue that I commented on was that some may be reluctant to vote for him because it might encourage others to convert to Mormonism, thereby condemning them selves. I related how my sister attended a fast meeting where several young men expressed gratitude to their big brother, Jesus. She thought that humanized him and did not treat Jesus as God. There are several devout and sincere people who believe we are not Christian because of our perceived doctrine - and not because of how Mormons live. I regret that I have lost the first part but I'm not bringing this up out of the clear blue. Because of Hewitt's book and others we need to answer what is being said.

In the long term, each of those short term actions could well have resulted in STRONGER companies... like Staples even EXISTING today... Sometimes you have to prune a tree so it grows better and provides good stock for fruit.

He's a smart man and I don't doubt he'd bring good business experience to bear in serving the nation, regardless of his religion. I've been on the receiving end of VC money, and lean and mean is what that phase is all about...short term cash flow matters intensely.

I'm just amazed that so many of you people even bother to answer those on these posts that are constantly attacking the LDS Church and making these pointless points. There are some posters (you can probably guess who they are), who's posts I don't even bother to read any more. They are just tirades stemming from their own personal emotional problems.

FDR Fan: Thank you for your points that actually do have a point. Those are excellent posts even if the first one didn't get through. Unfortunately, our doctrines are often distorted or misunderstood and it is important for us to clarify them by giving them full explanation whenever we can.

I believe what you said is correct about the actual doctrine of the Church. That is what I have always been taught and it makes the most logical sense. Unfortunately, we are taught that this is the most evil of all worlds. I am being drawn uncontrollably to the conclusion that this is true. Perhaps that is why our Elder Brother, Jesus Christ, came to THIS world to fulfill his mission as the Saviour of all of our Heavenly Father's children.

I am one of those people (not directly employed). I hope the corporations can succeed, as my retirement fund depends on it.

I choose to support goverment, because the goverment is accountable...to the people.

Business is accountable, to the Board.

Who, as my example shows, can close a business, on a whim. For whatever reason.

@ Pagan.
Let Detroit fail or go bankrupt. No company should ever be bailed out. Let the market take its cource. GM and crysler could have filed BK's and cam out just fine or blew a way. As for cuting jobs at Bain its called getting companies lean and productive. Or dumping the dead wood. When Mitt becomes president watch the dead wood drop from government employment rolls.

Back to the article - Texas is abuzz with disccussions between the religious sects. On a weekly basis my associates who are Catholic, Baptist and Methodist come to me with questions to clarify what we believe - rather than going to their pastors. That is, after all, all we can ask.

So the I'm a Mormon campaign and the Romney campaign have already won - in open discussion and mutual understanding points.

I too love the scrutiny. It keeps me on my toes and helps me in improving my actions. The fact is, we love the opportunity this gives to millions who otherwise would just write us off - to actually ask us what we believe. We are just like them in many ways, and it opens the channels of communication a little bit. It's all good.
