Our carbon monoxide detector did the same thing as yours did. I called the fire department, and they were there in about 5 minutes, checked our house thoroughly, and found it was the same problem...needed a new battery.
They said the same thing, not to brush it off. They told me it was NEVER too much trouble for them to come check it...EVER!
Scary thing was, my husband slept right through the alarm. I think I need to do something different there!
