Even though Bergstrom and Cullen have improved a little, they are still the two worst Offensive Tackles in the last 15 years+ in Utah Football. Bergstrom is wildly undisciplined, averaging between 1-2 penalties a game (at least), Cullen is not far behind. Cullen is still over matched most of the time against average competition. I am still waiting for dominant performance against at least a middle of the conference team, there is only 1 team left that fits that mold. Show me this Saturday.
It is interesting that last year I heard so many people say how good Bergstrom and Cullen were. This year, the opposite is the case. What is the difference between the last year and this year? Have Bergstrom and Cullen gotten worse? Doubtful. Are we playing more talented teams? Certainly. I think it is hard to compare this years O-line to past years because this is perhaps the toughest schedule we've had in years. Also, our QB situation hasn't helped the O-line any. Every defense we play (with the exception of OSU) knows that all they have to do to stop us is stack the box. That makes the O-lines job much more difficult. I'm not saying this O-line is the best we've ever had, but I don't think they are as bad as many people are making them out to be (though I can't excuse Bergstrom for all his penalties).
Done a great job the past couple weeks guys!
They should get recognized, one looks like a Caucasian Mr. T. "I pity the fool that can't get past me to the QB." O-line improvements seem a little like BYU's improvements. Against patsies. Their "improvement" should continue this week. I can't believe someone referred to UCLA as "average competition". UCLA is awful.
Shawn Asiata had some huge blocks in the Arizona game. I would like to see him become more involved with the offense. He had a few catches last week that turned into some good yards by lowering his head and plowing guys over. Go UTES!
UCLA beat ASU....and ASU is a very good team.....
