"Officially, it is an "unauthorized" book and probably the better for it. Among the things we learn in the book is that Romney likes control, including control of information and his image. Scott says he offered Romney the opportunity "to read, comment on and challenge every single word of the manuscript' and told him he would be allowed to correct factual errors. After it was revealed the book would be largely "positive" but would contain some "negative" material, the offer was declined."

That paragraph seems contradictory. A control freak wouldn't have "declined" an offer to review a manuscript.

That was supposed to be mostly positive? It didn't seem that way to me but then nobody is perfect. It does seem that Romney is our best bet to save the USA yet a few pages from Ron Paul would benefit I believe :) !

Mitt is nothing but a two-bit flip flopping fraud. Vote Ron Paul.

@ Civil;

Romney didn't want to make the book an "official" biography, which his review would do, if it contained "some negative" material about him. Hence Control Freak. Since he has a long history with the author, he probably knew which negative things to expect, and knew he could not refute them factually, so they would be left in the book. So he decided to not give it his endorsement. Clear?

We need someone with Mitt's expertise. The crowd in charge now is clearly without a clue.

Bill Clinton also liked to control everyone and everything.

Mitt as pointed out, is a good leader but is also easily swayed. Doesn't seem like a good recipe for the leader of the free world with his finger on the bomb button.

Lot of contradictions in this article, including: "a political butterfly, blowing with whatever political winds are blowing rather than with any deep-seated beliefs.... He is a good man, with strong unrelenting morals and principles." I have no idea who Mitt really is and what he really stands for. He does not exude a strong core of political principles.

And if you don't think personality will be an issue, guess again. Not in today's TV world.

Finally, how can he argue any more competence than anyone else in the field. One term as Governor, and the rest were elections he lost. The successes of his time as Governor, he is running from as fast as possible.

It is no wonder Republicans are desperate to find an alternative.

Flip-flopping happens with almost every politician, businessman and especially with most men's wives. I thought Romney was the best candidate four years ago, but the Republican machine wanted Cain, who took Palin on a whim, rather than anything substantive.

I think a Romney/Christie ticket would be formidable and quite effective.

That fake cartoon-looking smile on his face makes my skin crawl.

Mitt seems like a nice enough guy when he's sheltered in his rich, tiny bubble world. But it's his competency on the big stage where I find him most lacking.

I think he projects a great image for the faith I share with him. He's confident, happy, seems like a great family man, and has had great success in business and in some other endeavors.

But he's happily buried his head in the sand on issues like foreign policy. He completely outsources research on that to some of the most widely known warhawks in the business. Perhaps related is the fact that it was his Dad's genuine reflection on some of McNamara's lies about US foreign policy that is generally credited with imploding his own Presidential bid.

But Mitt's Associated Press quote about that (from a news story in 2006) is creepy. Mitt says [about George Romney's late criticism of Vietnam that killed his Presidential bid] "he used to say that in politics being right too early is not a good thing. But he was right, and it was too early."

Mitt seems willing to sacrifice what is right, entirely, in order to win. That's not competent. That's criminal.

Let's look at that 'expertise.'

*'Let Detroit Go Bankrupt' - By Mitt Romney - NY Times - 11/18/08

Mitt Romney on Job creation:
From 2003-2007 job growth....0.9%.
In rankings with the rest of the country...MA was 47th in Job creation when Mitt Romney was there.
- Think Progress Travis Waldron 06/02/11

*'Mitt Romney as job creator clashes with Bain record of job cuts' - By Lisa Lerer, Bloomberg News - Published by DSNews - 07/20/11

'Employees who lost jobs at Bain-controlled companies more than a decade ago say they still hold Romney responsible.
"I would not vote for him for anything," said Phyllis Detro, 68, who lost her job...'

If you want someone to FIRE you to gain profit...

*Mitt Romneys wealth raises new questions By Jamshid Ghazi Askar DSNews 08/15/11

'Romney owns between $250,000 and $500,000 in horses.'

then please....

vote for Mitt Romney.

I'm sure he will 'take care' of you.

Just ask 68 year old Phyllis Detro.

Who, was fired from her job.

This article largely summarized my feelings about Romney. A nice man, who I probably agree with on some things, but too easily influenced by what is popular to be the guy I want in the driver's seat. Go Ron Paul!

@ Pagan
So what is so wrong with letting Detroit go bankrupt? They deserved to. The same with any company that does not go with what the American people want and are looking for. That is called Capitalism! If they don't like it, go to some other country.

"Just ask 68 year old Phyllis Detro.

Who, was fired from her job."

Wow, is that the best you can do....one person! I can show you thousands, even tens of thousands of people who have lost their jobs under our current President. That is a really good comparison......for Mitt. What would you rather have one person fired, or tens of thousands of people fired? By the way why was she fired? Do you even know?
All the tens of thousands of people currently unemployed are that way due to poor management of the current administration.

Mitt would run circles around Obama and we would be 100's of times better off. Wait and see.

Then, you should name them.

The CLAIM you have this information...

is not, information.

Also, why are you blaming President Obama, who was born in Hawaii...

for the bad choices, of big business.

This is not just a 'person'.

It is, an example.

Something, you should provide sometime.

Why is it bad to let Detroit go bankrupt?

Nothing.

If you live in Utah.

Your 'empathy' for your fellow Americans, like Mitt Romney, is also something that is now something to be noted.

Do YOU own $500,000 in horses?

defibman

Pagan,

I guess you haven't looked at the unemployment rate in the last 3 years. Try going to the employment office and tell them your sad story! You speak of empathy, Do you have empathy for those who do not listen to what the public wants? I guess you will have empathy for BO when he is "unemployed" in a little over a year. He made promises he couldn't (wouldn't) keep. Who's fault is that? And you and others want to stick up for him? What does horses have to do with anything. Do you condemn Ted Turner then for being the biggest private land owner in the whole state of Nebraska? How about all those race horse owners who own one or two horses worth many times that of Romney. I don't feel bad for any company that can't adjust to capitalism. There are hundreds of them that go under every year, many of them come back and "figure" it out and do very well. BTW, I do own over $500,000 in cattle. Does that make a difference?

a little over 9%.

when Obama got INTO office, the unemployment rate was 8%.

I'm supposed to feel 'empathy' over a 1% increase?

Unemployment when Clinton left office was 4%.

And, again, when Obama took office it was...

8%.

that means that the Republican President of the time, George W. Bush DOUBLED the national unemployment rate and national debt.

Compared to....1% rise under Obama to date.

Great 'empathy' there.

Claiming that I have none...

while you gloat about how much cattle you have.
