What about Russell at CB? He has played that position in the past for RSL.
not a good time to lose 2 of the best center backs in mls. real will need both of them healthy and in form to make any decent run beyond seattle. we should be able to hold a 3-0 advantage. lets see.
I would be reluctant to play McKenzie also, it seems like whenever he plays the other team scores 4 or 5 goals. That is really harsh and rude, but all I can remember is 5-4 at Cruz Azul and 4 goals at D.C. United just a few games ago. Maybe he has had some better games for us, but those are the two that stick out in my mind. Russel has filled in before, but with no Beltran, and a lack of playing time for everyone else on the D line, I guess they are probably thinking 3 in the back or putting Johnson in Wingerts position and Gil or Alvarez in Johnsons position. This team is better off than they were, but without options like Beltran, and Gonzales it is still causing line-up problems.
I know Kreis is pretty committed to his offensive formation but with two strong defenders down and Seattle likely to push players forward and risk more shots on Keller, I'd be packing in that back third pretty tight.
