Thanks for this great and fun local-interest story. Now there is only one problem: When I come shopping with my missionary next year, I don't want anyone else but Dave to help us!
Good work! Keep making the world better. Great example on how to love your job and serve the people at the same time.
Thats a good idea to have someone know about the climate etc where someone is going to. I went to Manila, Philippines and thank goodness a good friend knew someone who had just gotten back from there so she was able to give me the info I needed; but I still had a big cultural shock when I got there.
What's that last sentence mean?
I know Dave very well. He has outfitted our three missionary sons. When you leave, Dave is your new best friend. As a mother, I couldn't be more grateful for the time and love extends to our family each time we come in. I once asked him to help me with a missionary activity in our ward, and Dave went above and beyond! And, I would easily believe he remembers most of the people he has helped. Dave is the best!
@ DanGill86. If you are referring to the sentence that said "...at precisely the right weight" that would mean weight of the fabric of the suit. Wish we had known about Dave with our 3 sons who served missions. But they did have good help where we did go. One son went to San Antonio TX, so his suits needed to be a lighter weight than our son who went to New York City during the winter. Another son went to Sydney, Australia, where it is also quite humid. He loved it there. He has been home for 4 years and is still wearing the suits he had for his mission.
This was a fun article to read, and so refreshing to find someone who loves his job and the people he is helping. Keep up the good work!
I remember when I was a kid, I always told my mom I wanted to go to Mr. Macs. And she would always laugh at me?
We have went to MR. Mac in SLC all three times to outfit our sons for missions. Treated with dignity and great respect each time. Our son who is currently serving in Philadelphia has worn out two pairs of shoes purchased there which had an entire mission guarantee. Both pairs have been replaced for free by Mr. Mac. We were told upon sending the first pair of shoes back that Mac Christianson (sp) himself inspected the shoes and said that those worn out shoes were just an indication of a hard working missionary and they would replace as many pairs of shoes as necessary for the duration of our sons mission.
Mr. Mac is a classy store with wonderful sales people. An honor to shop with them. Money well spent.
Love this story! He's still on a mission, in a way, isn't he?
Love David! Love this article about him! My eight brothers all went to him before their missions, and many of them still go when they're visiting Utah from their homes around the world. Even my husband goes to him, and we don't live anywhere near Provo. My Dad especially appreciates him. He told me once that, thanks to David, "It takes me five minutes to buy a suit."
