The power shift in 3A football is quite intriguing. I think the second round will be dominated by Regions 9 and 12. My predictions are:

Upper bracket

N. Sanpete over Grantsville

Wasatch gets run over by Hurricane

Dixie gives Juan Diego a good game, but JD wins

Morgan gets edged by Spanish Fork

Lower bracket

Cedar handles Judge

Ogden is outmatched by Delta

Juab gets beat by Stansbury

Park City gets pummeled by Desert Hills

I think the Semis will be Hurricane v. Spanish Fork and Desert Hills v. Delta.

3A Predictions

North Sanpete 19===G-Ville 27 "The victory will be short lived on the long bus the following week"

Wasatch 13===H-Town 42 "They lost the minute the bracket came out"

Dixie 31===JD 48 "Dixie can score but can they stop JD"

Morgan 21===SpanishFork 42 "SF will take care things"

Cedar 35===Judge 13 "Cedar does not get the credit they deserve"

Ogden 0===Delta 34 "Delta should just have a bye"

Juab 13===Stansbury 33 "The real games will soon be coming"

ParkCity 20===DesertHills 27 "The last 2 games should have got the point across"

I think the Semis are Hurricane Vs Juan Diego and Cedar Vs Stansbury

I say this
Emery, UT

2A North Teams will win every game next week

Emery
South Summit
North Summit
Millard

(Emery will beat Manti even though they also are in the 2A North Region) The
2A South Region has proven to be MUCH weaker

Those are some bold predictions by "I say this". Here is how I see it.

Manti/Emery - They already blanked Emery once and that was the first region game. Manti has only improved since then and Emery regressed. Manti 35 Emery 6

Beaver/South Summit - This is an interesting game. Beaver is a good team but I think SS has really hit their stride at the right time. SS 27 Beaver 20

Millard/Richfield - Pancho and Jesse are too much for Richfield. Richfield has made a nice run in the second half of the season but it has been against weaker competition. Millard 42 Richfield 13

San Juan/North Summit - Yes, the south region is weaker than the north but that doesn't mean SJ is not good. SJ 34 NS 7

I say this.

Emery over Manti? Emery was very lucky to get out of Enterprise with a win; let alone Manti.
As I have said all year; Millard will get the gold.
Manti thumps Emery.
South Summit thumps Beaver.
Millard thumps Richfield.
San Juan thumps North Summit.

After last night I hope PC gets pummeled by over 50 and I hope that the DH coaches don't call off the dogs until the final buzzer. I'll inform. Up by over 20 points with about 4minutes to play, the PC coaches call for an onside kick, if that wasn't bad enough, they then throw the bomb to run up the score! I've heard that the gloves come off in a rivalry, but that was too much! the PC players up to that point had played a great game and had demonstrated good sportsmanship. It's too bad that an arrogant coach ruined it for his kids on a night when both teams came together for two causes, Breast cancer awareness, and also to raise about 1,500 bucks for the kid from south summit who was injured. I think the coach owes his players an apology, and should demonstrate better sportsmanship in the future.

In the 2A the north is definitely heads and shoulders above the south. San Juan I'm sure is a good team but we don't know how good, North Summit will be a better test then probably anyone else in the south. Here it is boys.
Manti beats Emery by more than 20 coasting. South Summit beats Beaver by 2 touchdowns or more. Millard beats Richfield by 30 and San Juan beats North Summit by less that 2 touchdowns.

I still think Manti & Millard will play for the title and Manti will win it all. For anyone who saw the game against Millard knew that Manti controlled that game. Millard will have one thing going for them though, they do have better coaching and if it comes down to that they'll have the edge.

That is sad when you are 3-7 and going to the playoffs, and running up the score too laffin. Hurricane will have more class playing your Wasps next week.

Emery, UT

North Summit will beat San Juan. The Broncos haven't been tested all season. They have played mostly creampuffs in the 2A South region and they will come into the game expecting to walk all over the Braves....won't happen. Of course the game is played in San Juan where the officiating gives the home team a 14 point advantage right from the start.

These comments are almost as entertaining as the games themselves. They read like a bunch of middle aged has-beens living vicariously through their kids. Ultimately, these issues will be decided on the field. That being said, I am looking forward to being a spectator this fall.
It is to bad that Hurricane and JD cannot meet in the finals this year. That would be story book like. Hopefully, we will be given the opportunity to see a great game at Rio Tinto in two weeks.
To all you region 9ers, I would not disrespect the other regions. There are a lot a really good atheletes throughout the state.
Good luck to all.

I really have not seen one comment of anybody trying to live through their kids on this, just people puttin down their opinion on the turn out of the games. Just like the odds on colledge and pro sports, its a free country. Looks like somebody else has a opinion looking ahead in 2 weeks haha try 3 weeks if they make it laffin.

To JD-Dad
I completly agree with you on your comments above about those who comment on here, but honestly can you blame us. Basketball, Baseball and pretty well any other sports are recreational activities that you can continue after school. but football, once you hang the pads up for the last time, all you have are the memories. Anyway enough of that. The JD/Hurricane will be a fun game to watch, cant wait. In 2A, millard and manti are the obvious teams to beat, I don't think any 2A north team will compete with them. The wildcard that might stir things up a bit will be San Juan, you honestly can't count out a team that hasn't lost all year and are the defending state champs the last two seasons. As said by a number of people, this week will be a good indicator of how good they really are. It will help that their leading tackler/rusher/scorer will be back in action after missing the last few games with an injury. can't wait to see how this post season plays out
good luck to all

This is the first year I'm actually excited for first round playoffs! I can't wait for the region 9/10 match-ups. I expect the Dixie JD game to be a close, back-and-forth shoot-out. Dixie will be able to put up points and keep pace with JD, however, it will be up to their Defense to decide the game. Too bad Challis is out..they'll need all the help they can get vs. the 3X State Champs.
I think Judge can run away with this one if they just contain Ursua. You're not going to be able to stop him, he's gonna get his numbers, but just slow him down and limit him.

Ligers- Ya, it was pathetic. Our QB went down in the 2nd and we had some other injuries as well. I'm not saying the outcome would have been different, it just wouldn't have been a 22 point win, especially if PC coaches would have had enough class to not twist the dagger when it was already inserted. No doubt that Hurricane is a classy program, I've been reading about them all year. I guess PC is kinda hitting their stride right now, and that is maybe an argument for a team with a losing record to make the playoffs? Anyway, I know that Wasatch has a tough hill to climb but to paraphrase Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber when asking Mary what his chances are of them ending up together,.. Mary-"I'd say like one in a million"
Lloyd-"So, you're telling me there's a chance!!!"

Anything can happen!

JD-dad- do you mean the same way you live vicariously through pro's in sports? Haha, that's too much!

JD-Dad

@yankees27

I believe most pro athletes think they're bigger than the sport they play. Therefore, I don't really follow pro sports, no fantasy football leagues. I spent the last four years supporting my son an his high school athletics. Now I support my high school cheer leader. I even learned to partner stunt with her. Maybe you should go back to your couch and cheap beer. You go watch life. I'd prefer to live it.

d0wns0uth

I am guessin nobody can put a opinion on here without havin cheap beer in the fridge. Maybe people should go support their kids in 4 years of high school learning so thier kids don't end up on here givin insults.

yankees27

JDdad-I agree about most of the pro's. And I understand about following your kids activities. You see, I have 3 older boys who I have supported since about the age of 5, coached or helped coach all of their teams, baseball, wrestling, football, etc., I too have a daughter that cheers, she is not on the high school squad but will be someday for sure. I also have a younger son who is active in many things, not sure yet about athletics, but looking like soccer and wrestling. As you can obviously see, I'm too busy to sit on the couch very often, but I do like to take a break and watch a game or two. I can't drink beer, expensive or cheap due to a serious liver disorder. I'm glad that you'll be living life when I can no longer. That is why I'm taking advantage of the now, and maybe why I comment on here about issues or discussions that I'm interested in, I'm hoping my kids will learn from me that it's ok to speak your mind, hopefully without insulting someone in return.
