From the article: "A little more than half of the 396,906 people deported had felony or misdemeanor convictions, said ICE Director John Morton. The number of deported criminals was up 89 percent from 2008. Among them were more than 1,000 convicted murderers, 5,800 sexual offenders and about 80,000 people convicted of drug related crimes. Two-thirds of those deported either recently crossed the border or had done so repeatedly."

Look at those numbers and percentages of criminals! Good grief, with these facts how can so many people think illegal immigration should be tolerated --- especially the Chief of Police in Salt Lake!!

We need to deport 12 million more!

In every article about anything Obama does that is what conservatives are clamoring for, there is always an "oh, yes, but...."

Yes, the President has not only deported more illegal immigrants than GW Bush, he has also authorized more drone bomb attacks on enemies of the US. He also pass the Health care bill that Republicans came up with in the 90s. I would say he has been a middle of the road President and not the raging liberal he is portrayed to be. Many or most will be back by Christmas. We have to close the borders and do the things that will make most of those return home. For example, eliminate wire transfer of money from individuals to individuals, eliminate foreign language TV, Radio, and Newspapers, no more medical care at taxpayer's expense, no driving, no government housing, no social security or other welfare payments and of course, no voting. These and other actions will cause most of these folks to go home. When one is caught, put them in jail and send them home. Every adult is a criminal who broke the laws of the United States by crossing the border illegally.

Yes, your hard-line stance might cause some immigrants to leave. It would also cause American to cease being America.

If Obama's intent really was to remove illegal aliens, he would allow the states to assist in enforcing federal immigration laws. All he is doing is playing politics. He wants to tell conservatives how aggressive he is being by showing the number of deportations. However, he is showing his true colors by allowing deportations to be deferred, which means that that person is not actually being deported.

This isn't true. Articles have been up on the internet for a couple of weeks now quoting Obama. They are counting people turned back at the border as deportations.

The focus should remain on those illegal aliens who commit felonies and misdemeanor crimes of moral turpitude. We fortunately live in a free country that gives equal due process under the law to all those who live here. No wire transfers? No foreign language? Let people die because of no medical care? More unsafe drivers on the road? Crossing the border is not a crime,it is an illegal status. Things are so bad in Mexico, (mass murders, drug cartel violence, terrible poverty, around 7,000 murders in one year) that they will come even if we do away with the welfare help. The first crucial step is to close the border.

Some of your list makes sense. But, I am surprised that you did not include the most obvious of issues.

The vast majority of illegals come here for jobs.

We need to increase penalties and enforcement of laws prohibiting businesses from hiring illegals.

Then, our fence would not need to be quite so high.

Crossing the border is a misdemeanor. Working commits multiple felonies. That puts everyone here illegally that works, in the same category as Obama's supposed deportations.

I don't believe there are less crossing. One person died in Arizona crossing the border yesterday, two died in San Diego a week ago. Relatives tell me they still see the guides leaving with groups every day.

As far as immigration goes, I don't think you can believe Obama's administration.

Let me understand how this works.

The GOP screams about higher taxes under Obama, when in fact, the federal taxes are the same or LOWER than under G.W Bush.

The GOP paints the Democrats as not doing anything on immigration, all the while doing more than previous GOP administrations.

The GOP is furious about Obama care with its Govt mandate to purchase insurance. When in reality, it was a GOP idea, first proposed the 90's.

The GOP denounces Cap and Trade as job killing, when in fact, it was the GOP and G HW Bush that advanced the proposal in the first place.

The GOP constantly screams about ENTITLEMENT programs, while passing the largest entitlement program since medicare. Done with complete GOP control and costing more than "obamacare". And no attempt to fund it either.

Again, I will say, the dems are no picnic, and have their share of issues.
Feel free to blame them on what they do. But, at least be aware, and be consistent.

What is it soo hard for people to understand this? It's against the law to enter this country illegally.

If the latino community and countries believe they should have rights here, then allow US citizens to have those same rights in their home countries. Let us buy land, buildings, come and go as we please, speak english only to us, pay for our medical and give us jobs.

The left wing mentality that someone else should do everything for you is spreading like a disease around the world. If you want to solve economic and other social issues, then we need to get off of our butts and work. We need to pay cash for most of our items. We need people off of the welfare system (that is not a career or a retirement system). Or we need to give people who actually work and pay taxes, an option to opt out of the high taxes and opt out of these programs.

We should also focu on those that hire the illegals. If there were no jobs they would not be here. If they were not here, my wages would go up, and my health care costs would go down.

If the federal government did its job and stopped illegals from coming here in the first place, there would be no need to deport them! An once of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure! Instead of fixing the leak in the boat, Demcrats brag about how many bucket of water they bailed out of the leaking boat!

This is all a big scam that no president wants to address. If we don't enforce our borders then its no use sending 400,000 or 400,000,000 back to Mexico, they will just be back here in the morning.
