I watched Jeffress on CNN this evening. His endorsement of Parry may end up being a kiss of death. Anderson Cooper asked great questions of which Robert had no answers.

Yep, The Republican Party of the South, so open minded. NOT. Mitt will get sunk in the South yet again because of Republican bigotry.

How wrong can Jeffreys be. We Mormons believe literrally that Christ died for our sins, and we will go to heaven by Faith alone. Perhaps our understanding of this faith differs, because we also believe that "faith without works is dead".
As to mormons being Christian... Perhaps the best explanation comes from a leader in the largest Christian denomination, the Catholics, from Archbishop Niederauer when interviewed by the SLC Tribune 10 years ago: "if a person believes that Jesus Christ is his personal Savior and lives accordingly" says Niederauer, "then who am I to say if he is a Christian, or not."

Pastor Jeffress, listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government, nor is religious bigotry.

It is so presumptuous for anyone to decide who is "in the flock" and who isn't. Shouldn't we leave that to the Shepherd?

Neither party has lock on bigotry nor any other social failing, Mr. JJJHS. I assume you are an intelligent person and shouldn't have to first learn that here, but, judging by your comment felt justified in pointing this out to you.

It's wonderful to know that because the Southern Baptist Convention says something, it is so...period. Crazy that an organization with Christ's name in their title, more doctrine from Christ, of Christ and pointing to Christ than any other on the earth can not be "Christian" for any reason, let alone because the SBC says so. And Mitt Romney is "mislead"?

Fear is always followed by fiction. Evangelical Christian leadership (not their flock so much) fear the rapid growth of Mormonism. Why? Because thy cannot control the waves of sheep that are headed for greener pastures and their financial base is dwindling. Don't follow their words. Follow their money.

Did you see the woman in the background turn around and talk to the people behind her when he said Mormons were a cult. I guess she doesn't agree. I think it is so funny. I wonder if some of the reason why they say Mormons are a cult is because it takes money away from them. They get paid to preach and it hits their pocket books.
I think it is up to God to say whether we are Christians and believe in him or not. That is our relationship with God.

When evangelicals are mocked, they cry "Bigotry" and Mormons come to their aid and support. When Mormons are mocked, it is considered "mainstream" and stand alone. No one has the right to say who is Christian and who is not since it is a personal decision.

Unfortunately, Jeffress is blinded by his own ignorance since he incorrectly stated the beliefs of members of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. Notice who's name is honored and revered within the Church's name?

@JohnJacobJingleHeimerSchmidt - Not "republican bigotry", southern evangelical paster with a financial stake on the line. Can we all say Priestcraft?

Now wait just a minute.

This is a classic example of the pot calling the kettle black. People fear "Cults" because they blind peoples minds against truth. Cults throw up a smokescreen to keep their adherents from leaving their confines. Well congratulations Mr Jeffress, you fully qualify.

When pastors unsheathe their "cult" card, they are worried. It's as if that is the only thing they have left in their arsenal of weapons against their foe; in this case the "Mormons". But it doesn't really work. Mr. Jeffress doesn't make the Mormons more evil, he only makes them appear to be more evil to his own flock. It is exactly a smoke screen thrown up to keep his own adherents from investigating, and then eventually joining the Mormons, which too many are doing.

You can't hardly give this vibrant, growing Christian faith a serious and sincere look or prayerfully investigate their claims with a sincere heart without coming to the realization that there is something to it that resounds with their inner soul.

Pray for Mr. Jeffress. May he sincerely investigate with real intent so he too can see how Christ is at the center of our faith.

The following is what I posted on his Face Book page: "I used to be a Southern Baptist; you know the type Raise Hell on Saturday night the show up Sunday at church, because after all they were saved by the grace. I converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I prayed to God and the Holy Spirit testified to me of the truthfulness of The Book of Mormon. You sir based everything on the words of men. I watched your interview given after your speech & found you the arrogance of your explanation amazingly bigoted. You purport to speak for Christ? Your fundamental basis for calling Mormons non-Christian is your acceptance of a doctrine decided in committee at the Nicene Conference, i.e. the Holy Trinity. That is a doctrine of convenience not truth. A logical reading of the Gospels reveals that separation of the Father, The Son, & the Holy Spirit. For he sent his Son John 3:16"

zion state of mind,

Evangelicals, Baptists and "born again Christians" do NOT believe in, subscribe to, nor recite the Nicene Creed as part of their worship or "liturgy" (an oxymoron when applied to evangelical Christianity).

Please refrain from making comments on things about which you are so mistaken and know so little.

Kirk R Graves Can we all say Priestcraft?
Priesthood authority, In (D&C 110: 1-16) Elias and Elijah appear to JS, but in the Bible they are the same person.
The KJV translators of the KJV attempted to transliterate Elijah to Elias because there isnt a Greek character for the English letter J. To avoid (JS)confusion, modern translations: NIV, NJKV, NASB and the Catholic Bible have Elijah instead of Elias in(Mt 11:14,17; Luke 1:17).

Christ gives the true believers a Royal Priesthood(1 Peter 2:9)and we should offer spiritual sacrifices(Romans 12:1)

Eugene2 said, Notice who's name is honored and revered within the Church's name?
The Church of the Later Day Saints(HoC v2 p.63) In 1838 JS changed the name to the current name.
Christian Scientists are not all scientists and they deny the resurrection, are they Christians?
God recognizes His Church(eklektos) by their faith in him, not by a name written on a church door.

sharrona, since you are not familiar with LDS doctrine or beliefs I will help you out with the term I used. The term Priestcraft has nothing to do with Priesthood. The term Preistcraft is the act of preaching Christ's gospel for money. I grant it is a term not found outside of LDS circles, so I am not surprised you aren't familiar with it. However, since you seem to be putting yourself up as an expert on LDS beliefs, I think you just discredited yourself completely.

@Kirk R Graves, since you are not familiar with LDS doctrine or beliefs I will help you out with the term I used. The term Priestcraft has nothing to do with Priesthood.
Priest hood and Priestcraft are two opposites; one is of God the other is of the devil)(Mormon doctrine p.593). The priesthood of Elias, the lesser of the Aaronic priesthood Mormon Doctrine, p.595.
Priesthood authority(false), In (D&C 110: 1-16) Elias and Elijah appear to JS, but in the Bible they are the same person.

I left the Church over 25 years ago when I became a Christian. All of my children(3) have been baptized into Christians Churches, reformed and Lutheran, my Mormon spouse does not believe JS is a prophet of God although inactive .

Why does the media give Robert Jeffress so much attention?

Because he represents the fruitcake fringe of the Republican party, and they get to showcase someone whose religious bigotry and manifest ignorance about Mormonism / Christianity makes for a great circus act.
