2A Picks:
ALA/Millard- Millard will be pumped for homecoming & too much for ALA. Millard 42 ALA 14 GO EAGLES!!! (both of you)
Gunnison/Emery- Emery played tough at Millard, but came up short. Will take out frustrations on the Bulldogs. Emery 35 Gunnison 7
Manti/N.Sevier- Manti continues to roll. Manti 42 NS 7
N.Summit/S.Summit- Battle of the Summits will also be battle for 4th in region (I feel Emery beats them both). SS 28 NS 14
Beaver/Enterprise- Don't get how Parry has a 3-3 Enterprise team with a higher power rating than a 5-1 Beaver. But, at least he got the pick right. Beaver 28 Enterprise 7
Kanab/Parowan- Cowboys too tough for the Rams. Kanab 28 Parowan 7
Richfield/Grand- Good game between teams battling it out in the middle of the south region pack. Richfield 21 Grand 17
S.Sevier/SJ- The Rams end a tough 3 game road trip with the toughest of the bunch. SJ 35 SS 7 BTW SJH BRONCOS- the last time SJ was held under 20 points was last years title game (19).
Good luck to all the teams.
3A Picks
Cedar over Snow Canyon
Dixie over Canyon View
Grantsville over Ben Lomond
*Hurricane over Pine View
*Juab over Payson
Juan Diego over Wasatch
Judge over Union
Morgan over Bear River
North Sanpete over Carbon
Park City over Uintah
*Spanish Fork over Delta
Tooele over Ogden
*BIG Games
Hurricane/PV - Will Pine View's playoff shot be over?
Juab/Payson - May determine #3 and 4 in region
SF/Delta - Game chooses region champs, who will it be?
Tooele/Ogden - Tooele's tough schedule may help in this game. Kyle Brady will not lose to Ogden! Or will they?
Sorry the Tooele/Ogden game was suppose to have an *
I can't believe the spread on the Timpview vs. Orem game. This one is going to be close, don't be surprised if the Tigers pull it off.
re: eagle - I doubt it. Orem is not very good. Timpview has done much better in their wins. I take Timpview on this one, as much as I like to see them lose.
@ YougottaloveMaxie...you haven't seen Orem play
Region 9
This weeks matchups look to be boring on paper.
Hurricane 42 Pine View 21 Pine View is coming out swinging they are 0-3 in region and a loss will most likely leave them sitting home for the playoffs. There are a lot of frustratede fans over this years meltdown.
Cedar City 28 Snow Canyon 14 Cedar is coming on strong and the kids are understanding the offense. This should be an easy win for Cedar.
Dixie 42 Canyon View 14 Dixie should bounce back after 2 tough weeks. I think that Dixie and Cedar will be playing for the 3rd and 4th spot in region 9.
R9 Playoff breakdown Sept 30
Pine View @ Hurricane
Panthers playoff hopes alive only mathematically. A loss end Friday ends them for this season. PV has lost 3 region games by a total of 12 points. Inability to win close games has been Panthers' downfall. However this one is unlikely to be close.
Cedar @ Snow Canyon
Redmen likly to take care of business to continue their run at the playoffs. Big game next week with Dixie. SC unlikely to make post season but could play R9 spoiler role. Don't look for that to happen this week.
Canyon View @ Dixie
Flyers can solidify their suddenly tenuous playoff position with a win. CV still seeking first R9 victory.
Desert Hills has a bye and plays SC next week, setting up big game with Hurricane in 2 weeks.
Current Projected R9 Playoff Seeds
1. Hurricane
2. Cedar
3. DH
4. Dixie
Preseason R9 Playoff Picks

@eagle: Parry's difference in ratings is not a "spread". It is more similar to SOS or a power rating.
I agree with Parry's picks on most..but I'll take WJ over C-wood, Layton over Davis, and WX over Highland.
Who would have thunk that the best PV team they have ever had now has a worse record than C-view at the midway point of Region nine. I would imagine the frustration level of the fans and parents is what you say it is Red Rocks.
Boys of Fall.
First, I still think you have the best handle on 2A football, but Beaver beating Enterprise at Enterprise by four touchdowns? I have to say NO WAY on that call.
Why does Enterprise have a higher power rating than Beaver? To save space here look at who Beaver has played. North Summit beats Beaver?
OK, so maybe Beaver comes in and wins but let's say Beaver 12 Enterprise 9.
I have to agree with carver. I say Enterprise wins and Beaver losses two in a row. I really hope not and I hope Beaver comes to Blanding with only one loss and gives the Broncos a close game (they need one to get ready for the play-offs) but Im still calling for an Enterprise win on Friday.
Not an upset! After a close start WX pulls away big from Highland. After last week, the RAM's appear to be overrated! Let's GO WX!!!
Kipp's Picks:
Bingham over Lone Peak
Alta over Brighton
Roy over Bonneville
Bountiful over Clearfield
Davis over Layton
East over Cyprus (they will run the clock midway through the second)
Woods Cross over highland
Granger over Hunter (there will be at least one personal foul)
Hurricane over PV
Jordan over Copper Hills
Logan over Sky View
Box Elder over Mt Crest
Herriman over Olympus (upset pick #1)
Riverton over Pleasant Grove
Skyline over Hillcrest (Dupaix will get 299, but will get 300 next year)
Orem over Timpview (upset pick #2)
Northridge over Syracuse
Correction on Kipp's Picks:
Box Elder over Mt Crest is upset pick #1
Herriman over Olympus is expected, therefore would not be considered an upset.
@ Carver
First, I only had them beating them by 3 TD's (28-7). But, you do have a point. I don't put a lot of stock in preseason games because of the variation of competition & teams working out the kinks. I look mainly at region play as much as possible (so Beaver losing to N.Summit their 1st game doesn't excite me much). It's been hard for me to get a handle on the teams in the south though.
Beaver's a good example. They have the best defense in 2A, but who have they played. Their competetion has a combined record of 9-27. Sure they are averaging 35 points & have allowed only 6 points in region with shutouts the past 3 weeks, but none of those teams have a winning record (or a win for that matter in the case of 2 of them).
So, it's hard to figure out. You might be right, the game might be much closer than I said. Beavers #'s could be exagerated due to level of competition and Enterprise seems to be getting better.
We will find out tomorrow & I won't be too upset if the Wolves prove me wrong.
carver
who cares if north summit beat beaver? that was the first game of the season. if they played again beaver would destroy the braves 35-0. yes beaver has played some easy teams but they have still played very well. they have had 3 shut outs in region. supposedly san juan has the best defense so why has beaver allowed less points than them? and why hasnt san juan had 3 shut outs?
William must have been at the San Juan vs Enterprise game or has talked to someone who was there.
Its hard to make any kind of assumptions from games played earlier in the year. Beaver loses to North Summit 12-0. North Summit loses to Duchesne 35-6 in the second week. Enterprise only loses to Duchesne by 7 the week before that. Looking at those scores one would say Enterprise is a better team than Beaver. That is the beauty of a season, you just try and improve each week and get better. I think Beaver and Enterprise have both progressed a lot in five weeks. One thing is for sure it will be a nail biter in Enterprise tomorrow night in my opinion. Could go either way. I would like to see Beaver come to Blanding undefeated in region play though.
