This is exciting. I didn't think the Utes would make a bowl game in their first year in the PAC12. But they are well positioned to get another invite to the Las Vegas Bowl where they'll play either TCU or BSU. The result will probably be about the same as it was the last time U played either of these teams.

That's a great point naval lint. His rankings are certainly a joke. especially the one ranking the utes anywhere above 8th. Thank you for pointing out how flawed these rankings really are.

Veritas - You been hanging out with Duckhunter? Or just trying to pass the time before basketball season starts? Normally you are pretty insightful.

    "Veritas Aequitas,

Oh great purveyor of misinformation, what you are listing in your comment is the actual Standings not the Rankings. Standings are based on the actual records within the conference while rankings are the writer's opinion."

    "Purveyor of misinformation"?

    How?

Did I not call them standings?

I guess then, I was giving the standings, even according to your definition. No opinions, information, or misinformation. Rankings are opinions, standings are what happens on the field. Facts, if you insist.

How are facts misinformation anywhere in the world except to a Ute fan.

    I accept your apology.

Oh, and since Veritas is so fond of quoting ESPN lets not forget the fact the Ted Miller of ESPN has the Utes winning over Washington this Saturday. That win will certainly help in the Standings.

    Goody, another opinion!!!

    Hey, I hope he's right.

    Mike,

How did the LOSER of the UW-Cal game get ranked one spot ahead of the winner when they're both 3-1?

    Veritas Aequitas,

Oh great purveyor of misinformation, what you are listing in your comment is the actual Standings not the Rankings. Standings are based on the actual records within the conference while rankings are the writer's opinion of where each team is likely to end up based on their play so far.

Yes, in the rankings the Utes near the bottom by virtue of our loss to USC, but lets analyze the teams ahead of us in rankings and why they are there. First, Colorado, they are only ahead of us because they have yet to play a conference game and therefore have a clean conference record. Second, USC, of course they should be ahead of us by virtue of their win over us. Third, UCLA, the Bruins are only ahead of us by virtue of a win over Oregon St. which is winless. Third, Arizona State, yes they should be ahead of us by virtue of their win over USC. So, in reality, Mike Sorenson's ranking is probably more accurate considering two of the teams (Colorado and UCLA) ahead of us in our Division based on the standings really shouldn't be.
