Anne's achievement is even more impressive than stated. We receive hundreds of resumes for a single vacancy in the Utah Symphony Orchestra. One has to show a very high level of accomplishment just to be one of those selected to audition. By the way, each invited candidate pays their own way to the audition.

Every round of the audition is played behind a screen to insure anonymity. After whittling the field down to just a few candidates there is still no guarantee that someone will be offered the position. Sometimes auditions end with no one being hired, which is disappointing for the candidates as well as the audition committee. Someone has to demonstrate not only the technical abilities required to play a vast spectrum of styles at the highest professional level but also something special, something intangible, which separates the very good from the truly exceptional.

Anne is one of the truly exceptional and we welcome her to the USO family.

This is a superb article. Lee Benson has done us a favor by letting us get a look at how dedicated these musicians are to their art.
