Great 'success' story by Republican leadership.

I thought Republicans wanted LESS goverment? But the pass 'No Child Left Behind' & the Patriot Act when they controlled the Senate House and Presidency from 2000-2006.

In light OF the massive Georgia cheating scandal that RESULTED from 'No Child Left Behind', I support Obama in this.

Anyone who does not can explain why they SUPPORT something that has such a negative effect on our school system.

I guess you missed the part of the article saying it was passed in 2001 with WIDEPSREAD BI-PARTISAN support. I guess the bi-partisans would have had to have been moderate and conservative repubs, as the dems were completely innocent - always have been, always will be.

It would appear the law does need some work, and if BO can improve it, more power to him. question is, how do they monitor this "growth"? The more nebular you can make it, the less effective it is. And given the disastrous results in everything else he's done, I have NO confidence he can make it any better.

When you say you support BO in this, isn't that like saying humans need oxygen to survive? Is there ANYTHING you have NOT supported BO in?

Here's an idea -- let's just get the federal government out of the education business, entirely.

Uh-oh -- I find myself agreeing with my friend Pagan/en/in/on/un/yn again. But, hey -- when he's right, he's right. Everyone is arguing that either Republicans or Democrats can't seem to get education right.

I'll agree with them all. Neither can get it right, at least at the federal level.

Close down the Department of Education. Disencumber Washington bureaucrats -- of whatever stripe -- of having to worry about education. Let those with the largest stake in education -- parents, make the decisions about how it should be done and what its results should be.
