Perhaps we can have a truce now. Everyone will admit that Herriman is a good team and BigBenzo will stop posting ten times every week that Herriman has the best chance in 4A to go 10-0. That 'best chance' always did belong to Logan.

Just so you know, I was pulling for Herriman. Just trying to look on the bright side now.

Region 7 Predictions vs. Region 7 Outcomes:

    Westlake 43 Hillcrest 14 (Westlake 47 Hillcrest 27)
    Oly 13 Murray 10 (Olympus 41 Murray 10)
    Skyline 47 Herriman 17 (Skyline 27 Herriman 26)

I need to admit, that last score was more to rile up the posters from Herriman, and it worked.

Great job Eagles! Our last real hurdle will be Westlake and we will capture the region title! Great blocked kick!

@UteFan21: are you impressed with Skyline now? I am honestly impressed with Herriman.

@BigBenzo88: take it from me, Herriman IS a good team. A great game tonight, it is a shame that there could only be one winner.

Final prediction: Coach Dupaix WILL get his 300th this year!

Skyline v. Herriman? Both teams rely on the run, so don't expect a ton of possessions. My prediction: Herriman 27 Skyline 24.

Pine View v. Cedar? PV has backs against the wall. Cedar has had two weeks to prepare for the Panthers. Last year, it was a fake PAT that won the game for the Redmen. Should be close but a low scoring game. PVHS 28 CHS 27

Hurricane will win big...predict halftime score of 35-7. After that, SCHS will get some better possessions as the Tigers empty the benches. HHS 49 SC 21

@Golden Helmet - I like your confidence in Skyline. They are a very good team. Win or lose...I don't see any team getting blown out. I think a more reasonable score will be 42-35 in either direction.

I'm still amazed at the amount of chatter that Herriman is not a good team. Herriman is a very good, young team. A predominant amount of our starters are Juniors and Sophomores. We a have a very strong offense that can score (2nd in scoring in 4A and 4th in scoring in Utah). Our defense is young, but athletic and gets better every game.

The fact that our offense can score is the main reason I say Herriman wins. If it comes down to a shootout...Herriman can hang with and beat any team. Look for Herriman to score and look for Skyline to score, but I believe a key defensive stop will happen in the second half that will change the direction of the game and eventually lead to a Mustang win.

This is an important region and 4A game because the winner is guaranteed a playoff spot and has the inside track to the Region Crown! GO MUSTANGS!

@Golden Helmet... Skyline 47-17, huh? I think you need to loosen the ole' chin strap on that golden dome from the '70s and join us in the real world! I watched the Skyline-Juan Diego a few weeks ago and just was not that impressed with the Eagles! How about a more realistic prediction.....Herriman 35 Skyline 28.

    Prediction for Region 7 contests:

    Westlake 43 Hillcrest 14
    Oly 13 Murray 10
    Skyline 47 Herriman 17

Westlake will finally unleash, Oly will sneak by (again), and Skyline will win big.

    Red Rocks.

    Red Rocks in your head!!!!
Pine View will win big. D Hills will also win big. If Hurricane scores less then 60 that would be a shock.
Canyon View will go clear to Ogden and lose big. 1of 5 for Red Rocks, nice try.
The only surprise in R 9 is Pine View at 0 and 2 .

I just love how everyone acts like San Juan has never been on a bus before...We had over 2,000 miles last football season alone! Our bus trips are like mom's home cooking for you other teams. I also find it amusing that we "hope" the bus ride will slow down San Juan, cuz our team can't. Good times!

I am going to say that CH beat WJ for the first time in history. CH big men are back and at full strength. BA is back after his week off caused from a car accident. And JC is back after a sprained ankle. Look for CH to upset WJ for the first time in history. CH 28 WH 24

Region 9 is taking shape and there are a couple of surprises.

Hurricane is looking great, DH is performing well, Dixie had there first setback to Hurricane last week. PV is 0-2 in region CC with out a win is the biggest surprise. SC and CV are bringing up the rear.

    This weeks predictions,

Hurricane 42 Snow Canyon 7 Hurricane will clear the bench early.

Dixie 28 Desert Hills 21 This will be a battle of a great offense v.s. a great defense. I am going with the offense on this one DH struggles to put points on the board and won't be able to put up enough.

Cedar 24 Pine View 19 Pine View is struggling and I think Peacock will have Cedar ready for this game.

Canyon View 20 Ogden 12 Canyon View will go on the road to get the victory.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. To say that there will be "no falling a sleep on the bus for the Broncos" is a stretch. That's a LONG drive. But, you guys are pretty used to that. It's not as far for us but my son says that going to Enterprise reminds him of the movie Glory Road. When they're on the bus headed to El Paso & the coach tells the players "Welcome to God's country" & one of the players says "If this is God's country He sure don't want no neighbors" (or something like that). I actually didn't think it was that bad. El Paso was much worse.
Hope you have a safe trip.

Good to hear Carver's and Boy's of Fall's predictions for 2A.

ALA/Gunnison This one comes down to who wants to redeem themselves after last weeks shutdowns. Gunnison 27 ALA 13
Emery/Millard I think this might be closer than people are thinking. Millard 20 Emery 13
    N. Summit/N.Sevier I might have to disagree with Carver and Boys of Fall on this one. To much passing from North Sevier. Sevier 27 Summit 13
S.Summit/Manti This will be a defensive battle. Manti 14 SS 7
Grand/Beaver Beaver continues to show a good defense. Beaver 28 Grand 7
Richfield/Parowan Rams have struggled to find offense and that will continue. Richfield 34 Parowan 6
SJ/Enterprise Sorry Boy's of Fall no falling a sleep on the bus for the Broncos. My apologies Carver. SJ 41 Enterprise 6
S.Sevier/Kanab I agree that SS won't be leaving Kanab with their first win. At least they can look forward to having Parowan coming to town in two weeks. Kanab 35 SS 13

    Sept. 22, 2011 8:14 a.m.

For Pine View the next 2 games are the biggest of the year and perhaps many years. This current team has been touted as one of the best in their history so if they lose this week in Cedar, and Cedar always gives them trouble, they could be out of the playoffs. If this current team does not make the playoffs that would be one of the biggest melt downs ever.Still time for PV to turn it around,we'll see what the team is made of.

  • tiger06 SAINT GEORGE, UT
    Sept. 21, 2011 10:50 p.m.

With two weeks of preparation, and Pine View falling apart, I have got to take Cedar over Pine View this week. Cedar gave Hurricane a scare two weeks ago and I believe they have what it takes to knock off PV. Should be a very intriguing match up! Best of luck to all teams this week!

  • Mr. Morgan Morgan, UT

I'm meaning if Morgan, Grantsville, and Stansbury all win their other games too! Forgot to put that!

  • ADIDAS Tooele County, UT
    Sept. 21, 2011 9:42 p.m.

    My 3A Picks:
    Bear River over Ben Lomond
    Canyon View over Ogden
    Delta over Carbon
    *Desert Hills over Dixie
    Grantsville over Tooele
    Hurricane over Snow Canyon
    Juan Diego over Uintah
    Judge over Wasatch
    *Morgan over Stansbury
    Park City over Union
    Payson over North Sanpete
    *Pine View over Cedar
    Spanish Fork over Juab

    BIG games:
    *DH/Dixie - Will this decide # 2 and 3 seed?
*Morgan/Stansbury - If Stansbury wins there will be a region title showdown with Grantsville. If Morgan wins then region title possibly could end in 3 way tie IF Stansbury beats Grantsville.
*PV/Cedar - Will Cedar pull off the victory over D1, high and mighty Pine View and push them out of the playoffs?

  • Boys of Fall Fillmore, UT
    Sept. 21, 2011 9:02 p.m.

    2A Picks:
ALA/Gunnison- Both teams were shutout last week. Who wants to score this week? BTW #44 Harris for the Bulldogs is a very good player. Gunnison 28 ALA 14
Emery/Millard- Both teams posted shutouts (see above). Who will stop the other team from scoring? Millard 35 Emery 14
    N. Summit/N.Sevier- The Wolves are still looking for a region win, but the Braves will be too much. N.Summit 21 N.Sevier 14
S.Summit/Manti- The game of the week in 2A. The Wildcats pull off the upset on the road in a tough defensive game. SS 19 Manti 17
Grand/Beaver- The Beavers continue to establish themselves as the only possible real threat for SJ. Beaver 35 Grand 7
Richfield/Parowan- The Rams finally get a TD in region play, but not a win. Richfield 21 Parowan 7
SJ/Enterprise- The Broncos suffer a little bus lag, but are still too much for the Wolves. SJ 28 Enterprise 14
S.Sevier/Kanab- SS still looking for 1st win of season. They won't find it in Kanab. Kanab 21 SS 7

Good luck to all the teams.

    R9 Playoff Breakdown Sept 23

    PV @ Cedar

One of these teams, but not both, will likely get a R9 playoff berth. Question is, which one? This game could go a long way toward settling the issue.
PV faces a must-win situation. A loss to Cedar would leave Panthers' playoff hopes on life support, with Hurricane likely to pull the plug next week. Cedar, with only 1 region loss, could lose this game and still have a playoff shot. I like the Redmen to get their first win in a close one.

    Dixie @ DH

Winner of this one has the inside track to the No. 2 playoff slot in R9. Loser is probably No. 3 seed. A DH win will have Thunder dreaming of R9 title. However DH still has to play Hurricane and Cedar. Its prolific Flyer O vs stingy Thunder D. Should be a great game. IMO too close to call.

    SC @ Hurricane

A battle of R9 unbeatens. But seriously, SC is unlikely to be a playoff contender this year. Probably the only thing Tigers need to worry about is not looking past Warriors to PV next week. Not likely to be close.

  • Highland High Pride Salt Lake, UT
    Sept. 21, 2011 7:17 p.m.

Let's go Rams!!!! Sione Houma should be returning this week. Highland needs to get that win out in Bountiful to keep school support behind back-up QB Justin Weaver. Fish may not return for sometime, as he is still on crutches. Look for number 20 to make some big passes to #49 Hayes Hicken and #9 Malcom Card-Turner. And Sione Houma to once again dominate the run game. Playing in Bountiful is hard, both of our state championship teams lost every game at Bountiful and Woods Cross. Let's see the Rams turn that around this year.
