4 Things:
1- Fire Doman - almost anyone midseason would know better how to run the offense (only experienced candidates)
2- Hire a head coach
3- Let Bronco stay as DC where he is comfortable
4 -cancel the ESPN deal until we can field a real team

Nice recommendations, east. Where does Heaps fit in?

President Mendenhall should probably finish his mission as soon as he can so he can get back into the coaching business and light a fire underneath a bunch a pretty good athletes that haven't figured out yet that they are football players, not missionaries (at least not in the white shirt and tie sense).

I told you I wouldnt post for a month if byu won.

I knew they wouldnt. I'll be posting still.

What an epic beatdown.

You think recruits debating between Utah and byu will take that game into account? Yep you'd better belive it.

1-2 start is a Bronco thing to do. Not a Kyle thing

Rose Bowl 2012 Utes

1-4 start again 2012 Cougars

Mark it Down

Central Florida has given up 20 points total in 3 games.

Combine that with BYU offense that has scored 21 points in 3 games.

Central Florida 27
byu 10

WHAT NOW?
Saint George, UT

BYU fans were sure, (led on by reports from media, players and coaches) that a beatdown would happen Saturday night.

A beatdown did take place.

54 to 10.

A result so completely unexpected, so improbable, so totally without parallel, that the "hangover" is still "hanging over" Provo today.

What happened?

That question has been throughly vetted by everyone on both sides.

Perhaps, what happens next might to be the more important question.

The Cougars will be playing a couple of highly motivated/skilled teams the next two weeks. If the Cougars cannot match the preparedness, purpose, performance and passion of UCF and Utah State, BYU could easily be facing the prospect of a 1 and 4 start to what was supposed to be a magical season easily erasing the bad memories of 2010.

DN:

Thank you for the format of this article. It is interesting and informative to be able to see/read all of the pertinent information (look ahead/look behind) at a quick glance.

Granted there was a beatdown, however one thing that you will not see at BYU that you will/have seen at the u is: A)recruits debating between utah and BYU will take that game into account and B)The players at BYU will not start running to other schools as they did at the u. ( see u basketball the last couple of years).

re:Eddie Some players have already chosen Utah over the Y this year. Look up Utahs Murphy, he went on a mission and chose UTAH when he came home from that mission. There are plenty of young men who have gone to Utah over BYU. Do you remember Todd Christensen? Funny thing...the d-news has never mentioned the fact that one of his kids chose the U. In this newspaper we hear over and over about the local kids that chose the Y, but for some reason when it works the other way, nothing is said.

I think it's time to jump off Fake Heaps bandwagon and insert James Lark. Texas benched Gilbert in place of Ash and McCoy and look how their Offense has turned around. When do they think he will come around and actually produce? What match-up are they waiting for? It's time to experiment on offense before they turn it over another 7 or whatever times...stopped counting. I still can't get over how un-athletic Heaps looked trying to chase down the bad snap. They need no more vocal leaders, just a QB that will get the job done.

Some people need to come out of the clouds and read peoples post before they post their comments.
I read Eddie's comments and did not read the same thing that others read. I think what he meant was that the game of last Saturday will not keep those who are thinking about going to BYU from going there and choosing the u instead.

Since he mentioned the "beatdown", where does Duckhunter Hunter come off on posting what we already know?

I know that u are still upset over the last couple of years of bball players running away from the u, but try to keep with what people are saying.

My sentiments, exactly. While Heaps may have great mechanics and good arm, he is severely lacking in heart, toughness, and, most of all, athleticism. We've all heard the adage that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. After a beatdown like that, a D-1 coach just can't "continue the course."
Drastic changes need to be made. Try one of the back-up QB's (my choice would be Lark). Reposition Doman up in the Box where he can see the game. Let's see some fire and animation from the Head/Defensive Coach like he was the first game after he fired Jaime Hill. Running to set up the pass has not worked the last 3 games. Let's try passing to set up the run.

Also I would urge a change in attitude in the Head Coach. Bronco has stated that Football is fairly low on his priorities and that BYU Football has a "higher mission" than just winning football games. That is all fine and dandy, but you have NO mission if you don't win football games. If you want to showcase BYU and the church they represent through football, you have to have a product that people want to see. Winning and strong performances will attract that interest.(See Jimmer, Jimmermania, et al).

BYU has embarked on the gamble of independence. The hard cold reality is that the success of this new adventure depends on showing well (WINNING) on the national stage. And on the biggest stage of the year, BYU laid a very big egg.
Can we recover? Yes, but it will take some serious changes in attitude in the coaches and players (and Heaps needs to be muzzled). I fear though that things will remain status quo just because of Bronco's disdain for BYU fans and Boosters.

Huh? I even went back and re-read eddie's post, at your suggestion, trying to see where people have mis-interpreted him. I didn't find it. He mentioned "Granted there was a beatdown", but followed it up with an unsubstantiated claim that folks/players at BYU never think about leaving like they would/will at the U. While it's too early to tell how much of an impact THIS GAME will have on current high school recruits, some players have already left BYU for the U, and an example was given in Jake Murphy (who had a key TD in that game). Coach Mendehall himself said this game was a setback for the program. Eddie's tone then turns sour as he mentions Utah basketball players leaving (which you repeat), as consolation prize. I'm guessing, based on the tone, quality and substance of his post, that he thinks BYU players are more commited then Utah's.

So it must be all of the others that are wrong?

I have to laugh at all the Y fans who are still clinging on to basketball season. If basketball were really that relevant, what is it doing in the WCC?

Answer: It's in the WCC because Holmoe dumped all your other sports in that conference for the benefit of Football.

Football!

You know...the one that got boat-raced 54-10 during your 26th consecutive preseason Nat'l Championship year. No BCS for you! Your best option is the $750K Armed Forces Bowl vs. some unheralded "also-ran" C-USA team. In short, your season is over. Haha!

Just ONE POST casually refers to basketball and it's "all the Y fans?" Really? Like most of the trolls on here you apply lame comments from a very few BYU fans or fabricated comments by Utah posers to set up "straw man" arguments to blast "ALL" BYU fans.

Yeah, Utah creamed BYU in football. Congratulations. I suppose you have the right to denigrate BYU.
Way to represent the class of Utah fans so well!

I think you meant to say, "just one post ON THIS THREAD referred to basketball" because Y fans have been clinging to basketball season since LAST YEAR! For the past decade, Y fans have followed the following formula:

1. Boast of ensuing year-end Nat'l Championship and Heisman trophies during the preaseason until 1st loss.
2. Boast of winning the remainder of your games and angle in as the front-runner to receiving a BCS bowl invitation until your 2nd loss.
3. Scrap the current season and start talking about how dominant you'll be during basketball season, and make declarations on how dominant your Football team will be NEXT year.
4. Repeat cycle after basketball season with preseason prognostications about how you'll be playing for a Nat'l Championship behind your Heisman "front running" QB...

Yep. EVERY YEAR!

Show me any post that backs up those statements that wasn't posted by a Ute troll.

I 'll admit that there have been predictions "how good they'll be next year." Nothing wrong with hope and optimism.

The only time I have seen ANY of the other claims, it has been Ute trolls posing as deluded BYU fans.

So quit linking a few outrageous comments from mostly impostors to "all BYU fans." It is just plain dishonest.

I don't believe you don't believe the veracity of my 1:59 pm post. I think you you are either new to these threads, didn't believe that I could prove my point, or didn't believe the moderators would allow it if I did. Or any combination of the three.

Late last night, I left you several examples which included the Google keywords for several articles [including author and date of publication], the names of the known Y fans who followed the pattern, and cut-&-pasted quotes from them. However, if you want to read it, you'll have to ask the moderators what I said, on account of them not allowing my post.

I don't know why it wasn't allowed though. If it was "abusive, offensive, off-topic, or misrepresentative", you'd think those posts would never have been allowed to have been posted in the first place, but, there always has been some sort of double standard as to what moderators allow Ute fans to post as opposed to what cougar fans can get away with.
