People say the rivalry had gotten out of control, well, in other words that means it had just become a great rivalry, with both sides evenly matched.
How unfortunate that it came to an end with this whole out of control realignment.
It will never be the same unless both schools are playing in the same conference in late November.
However, there is still a chance to make it special by playing the first game every year. That way you have the entire off season to hype the game, and there will be so much at stake because both teams will be undefeated.
Without either of these two scenarios, it's just a game. Too bad. It was one of the greatest rivalries in the land. I haven't even heard the term "Holy War" all week.
David R. said it all without meaning to, in his last paragraph. "It's just a game."
The majority of fans always understood this, but there were some nutcases ("Holy War"?!?) on both ends who forgot it, and now they are being reminded. It always was, and always will be, just a game.
A game which I, for one, am very much looking forward to!
