Region 9 started last week and had some very exciting games.

Dixie pulled off the upset of the week by downing PV, Cedar gave Hurricane all it could handle, DH took it to CV and SC earned their first win of the season by defeating North Sanpete.

This week there are more great matchups.

Snow Canyon 21 Canyon View 14 This games is between two teams not getting much love from the media.

Desert Hills 28 Pine View 21 This is another upset with Pine View being on the wrong side again. I was not impressed with PV last week. I think that they have some weaknesses (QB, DB, discipline, kicking) that were exposed.

Dixie 31 Hurricane 24 Another upset for Dixie. I am going with Dixie based on home field. Will Hurricanes run offense chew up a large quantity of time? Will Dixie defense be able to force Hurricane into the uncomfortable position of having to throw the ball to keep up with Dixies high octane offense? I hope this game does not disapoint as game of the week.

Cedar has a bye. They will upset someone in region 9 this year.

I'm thinking that taking Cottonwood over Bingham is a misprint. Does not compute.

Park city is 0-4 and has a power rating of 67? Higher than other teams with winning records? Weird.

redrocks, Hurricane 42 Dixie 24. Run game too tough for 3A comp. even Dixie

dixie over pv was not an upset, desert hills over pv will not be an upset, I have hurricane and dixie straight up with ether team capable of winning.

I agree with all of Perry's 2A picks but one. I've got to take my wolves over Kanab. Enterprise has a higher rating than Kanab but Perry picks Kanab to upset the wolves at Enterprise? I missed one game last week, the Enterprise game. Surely I won't repeat this week. I really think Kanab might be a little stronger than Enterprise though. I'am sticking with the home team. GO WOLVES!

justafan was right & I went 6-2 last week in 2A. Good job Richfield & N. Summit in proving me wrong.
2A picks:
ALA/Emery- Emery builds on last weeks win. Emery 35 ALA 7
Manti/N.Summit- NS got offense giong last week against ALA. Can they keep it up against a tough Manti team? Don't think so. Manti 35 NS 7
Millard/Gunnison- Will Millard let down after big win against S.Summit last week? Don't think so. Millard 35 Gunnison 7
N.Sevier/S.Summit- SS rebounds from tough game at Millard. SS 35 NS 7
Kanab/Enterprise- Most intriguing matchup of the week. Who will rebound from last weeeks loss? Enterprise 21 Kanab 14
Parowan/Grand- The Rams continue to struggle. Grand 35 Parowan 7
SJ/Richfield- Can the Wildcats build on last weeks win and upset the Broncos?
Don't think so. SJ 35 Richfield 7
S.Sevier/Beaver- SS starts a tough 3 game road trip. Beaver 35 SS 7

OK 2A fans let's hear your picks.
Good luck to all the teams. Play hard and have fun.

@Info Man: I'm thinking your loss in SoCal proves you're beatable, and last week's win at AF proves Cottonwood is hungry. Do you have a preferred barbecue sauce I should put on your crow?

PV 35 DH 10

I too was not impressed with the db at PV, however, that will be fixed, trust me. DH has wins over who, not a lot to compare with. Agree that this is the best region in the state, top to bottom.

End of the season will find a bunch at the top.

i agree with every pick you have boys of fall. everyone in 2A needs to watch out for beaver. they are very underestimated this year but they have shown a lot of heart and they are steamrolling right along. if anyone has a chance of beating san juan in the south region it will be beaver

Love all you little town people with your dedication to your 2A football!
Oh and 3A fans that think someone actually from Down South will actually win a state Title in football makes me laugh so much!

Juan Diego or Spanish will win state, you just dont have that great of competition down in the South this year, well you do have good teams, actually Hurricane Is #1, so who knows, but all the talent deep talent is in the Valley of Salt Lake and Provo, so of course that is where its going to be for state.

Bingham will run Cottowood right back over to the East side with a 40-14 buttwhopping!

Excited to see Chase Hansen in Downtown Salt Lake against these big scary boys at West, even though it wont be close.

I don't like Bingham, but regardless there is NO way for them to not destroy. How can you say that because Cottonwood beat AF that they are "hungry" when AF is a sub par team in my opinion

2A picks
Emery 28- ALA 0. Emery is strong on the defensive side of the ball.
Manti 34- N.Summit 6.
Millard 44- Gunnison 14. Millard high powered offense keeps rolling.

Grand 17- Parowan 14. This game will be closer than most think.
Beaver 31- S.seiver 6.
San Juan 24- ricfield 0. Broncos defense is best in 2A
Enterprise 22- Kanab 21. this is definitely the game of the week in 2A.

I Will Be Till I Die;
Can anyone name one Utah high school football team in recent years that WASN'T unbeatable by another Utah team? Ok, let's make that "name two".
Naming one is too easy, especially for Bingham Miner fans.
Turning your statements around is far too easy. Cottonwood's loss to Logan proves they're beatable. Bingham's big win at Layton proves they're hungry after getting embarrassed in California.
Should Bingham win, how would you like your crow prepared? Is that pick up or delivery? Free delivery with humble pie.

The point system is laughable...0-4 teams ranked higher than 3-1 and 2-2 teams in same classification...Orem kicks the snot outta Provo last week and Provo is rated higher? Not just weird but ignorant...I am done reading Parry's articles. Time to move on to the Trib....

You just stick with 5a, cuz you have no idea whats going on in 3a.

btw people that have a problem with parry's numbers, he uses their last ten games or something like that so its still based more on last year than this year. I agree that its dumb, but I believe thats how his system works...

Jordan finally wins in this rivalry game to end the 5 game losing streak to Alta. Jordan's offense will be to much for Alta D.

The score:

Jordan: 21 Alta:14

that's all folks!

Good luck with the Trib. They have horrible prep coverage. I read the Trib last week and they had several scores that were incorrect. Their format is not as good and their stories lack basic knowledge. For prep coverage, there is no better place than the Deseret News.

@ binghamalum

I don't get you. Over on another post you tell people to not count out Hurricane and Pine View. Here is what you said "Spanish is 3A, good for them, but you still have to win and play the game, dont think that Hurricane, Juan Diego, Pine View, would be to thrilled to hear you bashing them, and you think a Spanish team that has not made it up to the U for at least the Semi's in 15 years, they are now just that much greater cause 3A is that bad?"

And then you say.. "Oh and 3A fans that think someone actually from Down South will actually win a state Title in football makes me laugh so much!

So which is it Binghamalum?
