The Mormon that eventually gets elected president will be a democrat not a republican. The rebublicans are strict born again evangelical theocratists that will never vote for a Mormon.
Harry Reid has had the most powerfull position of any mormon I can think of, a democrat. Because democrats actually believe in freedom of spiritual thought.
Dear Screwdrive: Oh, HONESTLY! You're not really serious.
Jon Huntsman is like the guy who's dead and won't lie down. I just hate to see him wasting all this time and money on a dead-end effort. I wish he would just call it quits and look for other career options.
Huntsman has no appeal among conservatives.
Conservatives drove the 2010 midterm victories.
Conservatives are key for any primary victory because they are mobilized and have become politically active.
He's never moved out of low single digit territory, not even when he announced.
But he has some appeal. Perhaps he would do well as...maybe...ambassador to China.

"Because democrats actually believe in freedom of spiritual thought"
Mormons are conservative, believe in more self reliance and less federal intrusion. Next week Mitt Romney will speak in South Carolina about the NLRB attempt to stop Boeing from building aircraft in a right to work state. Mormons support the concept of right to work and hence ... Romney.
@ Screwdriver, who said "Because democrats actually believe in freedom of spiritual thought."
They may believe in 'freedom of spiritual thought' but they'll FORCE you to give everything in your wallet through their never-ending increase of taxes and their insatiable desire to "share the wealth".
I'm sure Huntsman is a nice guy (his dad is a true giant!) and he'd be far better than Obama, but he's a RINO (Republican In Name Only) who has been polling for months in the low single digits.
There's no way he'll win. He might as well quit now.
I give him 4 weeks. Six tops.
Re: Screwdriver
It would be more correct to assert Democrats believe in freedom FROM spiritual thought. In our schools, roads and anything else connected to government.
In that sense your right, perhaps Huntsman would have a better shot as a Democrat.
