Memo to Memo: I'm sorry, your NBA playing days are over. Please stay in Turkey or wherever. Thanks for your time and contributions in Utah; even though your compensation was not comensurate with you contributions. Bye, bye.
I love you Mehmet.
Nice guy.
Way over paid.
But aren't they all?
I'd sure like to see more coverage of the overseas leagues in our newspapers. It's time to let go of the NBA and move forward with our basketball lives.
Here's hoping he doesn't hurt something else while playing and not be able to play when the NBA starts.
to be honest...at the time memo was offered the contract...heck even AK...they are worth it...but injuries...changed them...i think the most and really...way overpaid guy in the NBA is Joe Johnson...he isnt a superstar...but he gets superstar money...I think memo would be a good asset in developing Kanter...i just hope he doesnt teach Kanter Defense...
I agree that Memo would be help to Kanter on and off the court...I bet they have already talked a lot. Memo has good court savvy, improved as a rebounder during his career. At this time, he has better range than Kanter, too, but I'm guessing that Kanter will be an outstanding 3-point shooter eventually. Enjoy Turkey, Memo!
Time for the NBA to get this situation fixed, both players and managers. Good grief already!
Memo should not be playing for anyone but the Jazz. He only has so many miles left on his body and he owes those miles to the Jazz. He had no problem collecting a paycheck all last year without playing but a few minutes.
Hey Jody,
Us B-Ball fans are starving for more B-Ball news. I've tried to catch some of the Euro league games (available on espn3) but not as much as I like. Tried to catch Turkey to see Kanter he has made some plays. Yesterday, in the game vs France they passed it to him with one second on the shot clock and he drained the 18 ft rushed shot. He's made other impressive plays but he's not starting on his team and gets limited minutes.
Tell us more about other players in the Euro league:
AK47
Ante Tomic
Kanter
NBA stars
More NBA news- like when Andrea Bargnani drained a 3 with 5 seconds left to tie the game and then fouls the guard accepting the inbound pass. What a boneheaded play which lost the game for his Italian team.
And - if Okur is healthy and so anxious to play....Why isn't he playing in the Euroleague right now?
@huggyface
From what I've seen. AK47 is back in form in Russia. He's been doing 5 by 5s regularly and is easily their MVP. The difference between NBA and Euro has a lot to do with that though. NBA is tougher, Euro is faster. Also, Jazz don't utilize AK very well....
You've seen Kanter.
He's got a great outside touch, but he prefers to bang in the post. His strength is what I've noticed. There's this one play where he Shaqqed Marc Gasol.
Surprisingly, Dirk is struggling in Germany. Parker is MVP of France. Fes is........Fes.
Tomic is doing very good. Try to catch his latest youtube highlights.
The video is called: "Ante Tomic 23 points Eurobasket 2011"
He's like a Pau Gasol type, but not as dominant or strong. Still... 7'2''...I wish they could get him here. At the very least, a great trade chip.
@Anonigma
Thanks for the update, but you lose some credibility when you say AK is regularly getting 5 by 5's. Do you know what a 5 by 5 is?
@JFFR
5 pt, 5 assist, 5 reb, 5 stl, 5 blk?
Ach, I should've said near 5 by 5's.
No worries, 5 by 5's are extremely rare performances. AK's doing a great job filling up the stat sheet, but he's not getting 5 by 5s!
@JFFR:
Andrie's latest:
14 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists, 4 stls, 2 blks (Close)
Man his team is unbeaten and he's the star of the team.
Its kinda close, but not really. He only got 3 of the 5. Getting those last two are what makes it so impressive. I'd say he's closer to a triple double then a 5 by 5.
But I think your point is very valid. AK is playing really, really well.
