Reality has set in early. No National Championship. No win in Texas. But when we beat the Utes in Provo = successful season!

Only thing the prevent defense does is prevent you from winning.

Anderson should have learned that lesson in the 2006 BYU game.
    -----------
Wasn't he the defensive coach for both 4th and 18 to Collie and Beck to Harline?

I know this: our society values these 'athletics' far more than the academic role a so called school plays within it. Yeah, they study this and that at BYU or USU, but they play football and basketball. That's where the money is. That's where the prestige is. That's what still matters to us.

    Chris B:

So, the utes want a championship without earning it, or playing the top teams? Something for nothing? No wonder you don't like the honor code.

Utah will get worked by USC and BYU will not win at Texas. Kind of leaves a bitter taste in your mouth when they meet up the following week.

Chris B: Your reasoning is sound. However, can Utah compete with Wynn as their QB? I didn't watch Utah's game against Montana State, but from all of the articles I have read, perhaps Wynn hasn't yet fully recovered from his ofseason surgery. I guess we'll see. Good luck, Utah. Hope you can do some "damage" in the Pac 12 this year. Good luck also to BYU. They will need it against Texas. Hopefully, BYU and Utah will both be 2-0 when they meet on Sept 17. No matter, it should be a great game, as usual. I just hope and pray that the fans on both sides can be civil to one another. BYU, let's learn from Mississippi fans & their coach how to be more gracious. Utah fans, I would love it if we were gracious to you & if you would recriprocate. Come on, let's all of us DO IT! Let's all have a great experience on Sep 17!

    @Chris
Utah still needs to see if we have a Division 1 QB after that abysmal performance last Thursday. So the probability of Utah winning the PAC-12 is slightly greater than BYU winning a NC.

I disagree that Utah can't win the Pac 12 championship.

    We dont play Oregon.
    We don't play Stanford.
USC can't play in the Pac 12 championship game.
I'm not convinced Arizona State will be anything special.
Oregon didn't look amazing against LSU.
This team will be as good as any in the division.
Utah has as good of a chance as anyone in the Pac 12 of playing in the Pac 12 championship game for these reasons.

Great article until the last sentence that has Boise in the natioanl championship game. They've already played their toughest game of the season. TCU the other team team Boise plays that is supposed to be tough... well if they can't stop Baylor how are they going to stop Kellen Moore. Boise has the ultimate cupcake schedule... again. No National Championship this year... they will have done nothing to prove their strength and no one will see them this year either on the Mtn.

You're wrong about Boise State ever making the college NC game, even if undefeated, and even after that good showing against Georgia. Their powder-puff schedule's SOS will keep them ranked below other BCS schools that could even have one loss.

Remember, it's now how high they're ranked in the polls, but the total BCS ranking that includes rigged computer rankings, which are rigged by way of how they compute SOS. I doubt it's rigged on purpose. It's just a fault of logic that benefits schools that are members of BCS conferences.

However, some of the computer rankings could be getting the SOS right, but there are so many that don't, the averaging minimizes it.

This is why, if BYU can get enough BCS schools on its schedule each year, that BYU is better off independent than in a mid-major conference.

Amen Mr. J, as soon as I saw that my thought was it would be better to let them score and put it back in the hands of a seemingly able Chuckie. I would have expected a different look from Gary, the Prevent defense is not what you use with the amount of time they had left and the distance they had to go, so disappointing.

prevent defense...when will they ever learn.
