Nice tory. What ever gets you through the day,
At least in Nam we had rotation dates and end of term of service. WWII Vets had nothing, they could not even get killed and be brought home, many are still baried in some hole in a another country.
I am glad that he found a way to servive.
This is why theres is the Greatest Generation, because they went through more and had to overcome more. They had to adapt more. Then thanks to Ike they built a Nation.
With out them I would Not have had my chance fight for American Freedom either in the Cold War or later in the Hot War. Where 150 Americans a Week died while they talked about the shape of the peace table for weeks.
In the end because of the Passage of Time and the Passage of Season all you have left is what you remember.
I see WWII Vets when I go to the VA. They are slowed by age, bent a little at the back, but very much unbroken, with the light still shinning from their eye, most have lived good lives. Living through unspeakable horrors.
God Bless all the WW2 vets. Thanks for the story
Crippled mother? For shame Deseret News!
Other than that a lovely story, a pity that it's all gone under tract housing and tacky subdivisions. Sounds like a wonderful place to go to unwind.
We give thanks for all vets! We cannot begin to imagine what sacrifices were made on our behalf.
